7:55 Women just generally sexualize men differently. (There are both men and women that do both, but the general tendency is different)
Like, what contributes most towards sexual attraction for women,
is as far as I can tell, not directly the physique of the body,
but other features, that can superficially be derived from it.
Like "how friendly does he look?" "how aggressive is he?" "how does he react in certain situations?" etc.

That doesn't mean, that they don't sexualize them, by projecting these ideas onto them.
Can be observed very well with the infatuation of serial killers an the likes.

I don't think it's all rooted in misogyny or being an incel.

I'm not saying I was ever in a performative feminism phase, but when I became an atheist, I realized that I would try to mimic and behave the way other people did in atheist spaces online just so I could fit in and make friends. Technically, tweaking aspects of your personality as an attempt to fit in a new group is manipulation, but it wasn't from a place of malice. Unlearning biases you grew up with is extremely hard to do on your own. What matters is if those people are actually trying to be better.

If you are seeing male thirst traps on fyp, then the algorithm recognized that you engage more with such content in terms of attention and time spent on the platform. I also find the notion that the female gaze is not sexualizing the object it observes as not true at all. You described the "pick me boys" as what we used to call "nice guys", I guess every generation rediscovers same stuff and renames them.
