An internal AfD strategy paper reveals the far-right party's plans: to split the CDU/CSU coalition, draw the party into its fold, and initiate a takeover of power. The party's message is a constant stream of pronouncements: Germany is on the brink; all democratic parties are political failures; a nationalist force must come to power to clean house. The party's target date for taking over the government is 2029.
Why does the AfD's propaganda resonate – and with whom? The AfD's propaganda deliberately exploits many people's longing for security, clarity, and appreciation, says social psychologist Professor Eva Walther. The far-right party's narratives appeal primarily to those who feel threatened by globalization, social change, and social inequality: especially men experiencing (perceived) economic insecurity and people with authoritarian value systems. With seemingly simple "solutions," emotionally driven by stories of victims and heroes, the party promises protection and recognition.

❗️ "Moment Mal! Aktion für eine offene Gesellschaft" (Wait a Minute! Action for an Open Society) is a group of friends who came together in 2018 from diverse segments of Wiesbaden's civic society to counter anti-democratic sentiment and those who oppose democracy. Moment Mal! is convinced that the answers to the pressing questions facing our society can only be developed through cooperative democratic processes, based on universal human rights, fair and inclusive institutions, and respect for the diversity of life. An open society is the foundation for this.
