This is a review of the Canon 6D, evaluating whether it is still a good option to buy today, considering it features a Full Frame sensor.

The Canon 6D is one of those cameras I consider legendary for its time because, with its capabilities, it helped photographers capture more shots, making photography less frustrating and more enjoyable.

I've heard so many good things about the 6D that I'm tempted to go out and buy one but then I remembered that I've already got one and love it.

The 6D has better image quality than its bigger brother, the 5DIII, and that was amazing at the time. Just try to lift some shadows on both cameras.

Still using this camera since 2013. I have to tell you it’s the best DSLR. The slow autofocus and limited af points are just quirks. Still creates fantastic pictures to this day

6D was my first FF DSLR. Great acquisition and still use it, alongside my 5D3 and 7D.

I have had the 6D for a number of years. Fantastic camera. Has never let me down. Use it for everything except sports/actions shots which do not take much . When I do I have an older aps-c which I suits that purpose.

The issue with the focus points is not necessarily that they're few but rather that there are too closely spaced, covering only a fraction of the frame AND that only the center point is really sensitive.

10 years I've had the 6D. Before that, a 10D. I reluctantly took the 6D when a job offered to buy it. 10D to 6D was an upgrade. Shocker. 6D to R6mii? For those who embrace the challenges of photography and enjoy the hunt for a good shot, a 6D could remain in the bag long after the mirror falls off. I believe it's an end game camera, so long as the spirit of shooting is the goal.

This is the next camera I want to get. When it came out, I didn't think much of it, but the good ISO performance and value for money have made me change my mind.

0:09 I've now divested myself of all EF-mount gear. Except for that precise combo. The 6D with the 40/2.8 lens.

Funny how 10 years ago everyone used to sh*t on this camera. I love mine and dont get why you need 2000 focus points. I've managed just fine. I think people are now wanting a "simpler" camera.

Having this camera for 5 years now, I can tell you that despite the great image quality and exceptional Canon colors, the old AF system of this camera makes photography a challenge when dealing with "moving" subjects. In live events like birthdays or weddings, if the subjects are moving, achieving eye focus is very difficult. Focus and recompose is also tricky since any recompose could make the subject blurry. Videography is only good for still subjects. There is no live-view object tracking in the video mode.

That said, Canon 6D is a beast for beginner professional photographers. Its -3EV AF make focusing on dark subjects easy. It has great low-light capabilities. The battery life is amazing. The camera is fast and responsive. It also has GPS and Wifi which are very useful for geotagging and live shooting scenarios. And the final image quality is amazing.

Pair this camera with a prime lens and you will have beast for still portrait photography.

Hi Guys, how much do i get if i upgrade to 6D from 550D?
For context :
I shoot mainly an airplane, and quite happy with AF in 550d in bright light, but dynamic range and burst speed is the thing that I am not happy with my 550d.

6D Classic is special when it comes to photography. 6D mk2 is good if you have good lighting, or if you want to do vloging. I have both, and used to use both for street photography until the M6mk2 took over. I only use the 6D Classic to shoot events now. It produces beautiful images effortlessly, and the sound of the shutter is therapeutic. One con of the 6D Classic is that over time, the primary control wheel always gets messed up and needs replacing. A repair that costs waaay too much. I repaired mine myself, following teardown instructions found online, and saved myself a packet. It was fairly straightforward to do, but not for the faint hearted.

I shoot professionally on a Nikon D750, but 2 years ago when I got the chance to pick up a used 6D in pretty good condition and under 20k shutter count for the equivalent of 280 dollars, I snapped it up immediately. I was initially questioning whether I really wanted another full-frame DSLR since the size and weight was the reason why I transitioned to Micro Four Thirds for when I valued mobility over absolute image quality.

But once I got my 6D, I pretty much found myself bringing it out as much as possible. I typically shoot using the 28-105 f3.5-4.5 and either a 40mm f2.8 STM or the 50mm f1.8 STM which aren't too big and heavy to carry around. It's a great camera to practice with if you don't mind shooting everything by center focusing and recomposing. I've so enjoyed using the 6D that I've ended up using it for some jobs.

I have a few Canon DSLRs and also the R6 Mk2. The 6D is all you need unless you have Pro requirements (like 2 SD cards and Weather sealing). It's nicer to use than my R6 and my 5D. In fact it's everything that made the 5D great PLUS everything that the 5D lacks, without becoming super complicated like the R6. It just takes beautiful images without getting in your way. They are the used bargain of the decade.
