People keep calling it dynamic pricing, but wouldn't price discrimination be more of an accurate term since it's charging individuals more or less based on their personal traits?

I bought a bob Dylan movie for my iPod touch in 2008- a few years ago I noticed it was gone and there was no record anywhere that I had ever purchased it. My first experience with how misleading “Buy” was. It should be illegal and we need stronger consumer protection

Trying to end physical games in about 2 years is enough time to piss off and lose a good chunk of your fanbase.

5:47  that wasn’t the worst part. The worst part was them argueing that it was implausible because selling a game meant that no one else could buy that game. As if digital goods were indivisible, and couldn’t  be duplicated. THAT was insane.

All this sony dumpsterfire nonsense made seeing that ending to the ocarina of time trailer showing the special foil art and the physical cartridge feel so damn nice.

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if the heads at PlayStation completely destroy anything that remains of the PlayStation brand to chase the AI bublle.

Nintendo seemed pretty frustrating at the start of the Switch 2 generation but they definitely ended up as the lesser of all the evils by just letting the competition shoot themselves in the foot

The console wars still exist, they are just going in a completely different direction.  Who can destroy their brand the fastest

They have outright admitted that they see this brand as unsustainable. So now they are just milking who’s left and the few whales who will stay with them for PS6. Say what you will about Nintendo, but at least they are making an effort to stay sustainable and relevant beyond “IP synergy” or whatever the fuck

They NEED to change the language on the store to “RENT LICENSES”🔶
They WILL NOT do that because it will kill sales 🔺🔺🔺🔺🔺

When I found out Playstation wanted 12 live service games over what ALL PlayStation enthusiasts bought it for, story driven games that was the day Playstation died for me. Astro Bot was the last game I bought and more than likely the last one in a loooong time IF I keep the PS5

Anyone remembers them mocking microsoft for their anti-used games policies? Yea at that point they were actually excited cause that is exactly what they'd have done if they had the infrastructure, it's time people woke up and realize, sony wants their money and not for them to have fun.

Sony are making so many bad decisions it makes me wonder if they know something we dont and are planning ahead

Not to be dramatic, but I don't even feel like looking at my PS5 right now tbh. It's hard to get excited over any PS5 game, really.
There's still games I want and I'll buy physical when I can, but there'll always be a sour pit in my stomach if I do.

RIP PlayStation.

Aussie gamer here: at the equivalent point in the PS4 Pro’s life (22 months after release) - i purchased a PS4 Pro bundle with a game for $479 (AUD). ONE generation later, a PS5 Pro has gone up to $1399 (that’s digital, no game).
Sony….how TF can you justify a $479-$1399 price jump in one effing generation…???!

Sony thinks we are stupid! Their lawyers posed the argument "no reasonable consumer can assume they owned exclusive rights to a digital copy, given how anyone could buy the same “copy” at any given time."
As if there is ONE digital copy on a server that can't possibly be duplicated for any consumer who ostensibly purchased it by clicking BUY or PURCHASE on an online store.

I have never seen a game company tank their prestige in such a short time frame as Sony has been doing during the PS5 generation. The Dreamcast forced SEGA to go third-party. The Wii U would have broken Nintendo if they hadn't had the 3DS to lean on. And yet, both of these consoles actually had games and devoted fans, despite selling a fraction of what the PS5 has achieved.

Companies like Sony in their current state won't learn their lesson unless consumers take drastic action, because they know that they can keep stripping us of our rights, increasing prices, laying off developers, closing studios, bastardising franchises, and they'll continue to sell. Because, they know that the average consumer will never, ever care as much as we do.

The PS5 was never intended to be a game console; it is a symbol of clout.

First time hearing someone actually giving credit to Nintendo about giving full 3 months ahead for price increase. Unlike everyone else just doing that overnight. Tells you a lot how company treats their customers, and how other companies treat their consumers.

Sony moving PS HQ to California would eventually lead to this. Said this would happen back when they relocated, everything just seemed to snowballed from that point.
