This was a bonus Patreon/Members video from earlier in the year, but I think it's been long enough now that it can be published publicly (especially since it ties into the next video). Enjoy!

I love how the controller is a mouse in disguise. Now I kinda wanna see an analogue stick controller prototype.

Matt, I've just got to work. Do you mind uploading later?

Finally I can attach a Sega Activator to the Phillips CDi, as I very much suspect after playing any of the Zelda's, trying to hit everything around me will feel oh so right.

As someone who remembers fondly growing up playing the CD-i with a friend, it's always weird to hear people ragging on it.

I now have a sudden urge to Jerry-rig a Playstation Move controller to act as a pointer for the CD-i

Mah boi, this controller is what all true warriors strive for!

Using the presentation controller on an action platformer is something Arin Hanson knows a lot about.

That is actually a DE-9 connector. A DB-9 would be the size of a parallel port connector but with only 9 pins.

I feel like this video was made for me, being a kid that grew up on a Genesis and my screen name being what it is.

That Philips CD-Icontroller seems to be a rebranded "Gravis PC gamepad" from the 90s. Just a different color scheme. That goes for like 20-30 bucks on ebay. Hope this is of great help of to all 12 members of the CD-I-community.

The funny thing is that while the ports are proprietary, the SNES controller protocol is both dead simple and easy to extend. In fact, it's just an extended NES controller, and was used again on the Virtual Boy.
