With the Kalos Elite Four fixed, which region should I move on to next? I'm thinking Hoenn, specifically ORAS, to continue the mega evolution theme, but would you rather see a different region get an upgrade? Let me know!

If only Game Freak give Talonflame, Aegislash, and Niovern Mega Evolution forms. Good on Pokémon Legends Z-A giving Barbaracle a Mega Evolution.

I feel like Probopass is actually a beautiful fit for Wikstrom! It shows magnetic north, which fits his "true north" morality perfectly!

Probopass is a great fit for Wikstrom’s team. I always saw his team as mundane objects in his inventory, akin to a RPG adventurer’s.

He has keys, scissors, a compass and his shield and sword. Escavalier would be his armor.

I almost feel like Mega Ampharos would be a fitting addition to Drasna’s team, even though he’s not organically a dragon. Fits the majestic vibe.

This has the best revamp to Diantha's team I ever seen, bravo!

I’ve heard some people blame BW for starting the short-lived trend of the E4 only having four Pokémon as opposed to the usual 5, but it was done in BW out of necessity due to the lack of Pokémon in their respective typings. They could’ve thrown in repeat species to get up to 5 Pokémon each, but it’s clear to me that they were trying their hardest to avoid that with Elesa and Drayden/Iris being the only exceptions in the entire region (not sure why that’s the case considering Joltik, Tynamo, and Deino exist, but whatever). The tradeoff for this is the first E4 to use a full team of six for their postgame fights.
As for B2W2, I’d imagine Game Freak didn’t want to change the E4’s teams to show that they don’t need to change up their teams by adding ‘new’ Pokémon since they’re already the best of the best with the teams they have. The sole exception is Shauntal since Marlin has a Jellicent so she instead has a Drifblim as a replacement.

But XY? ZERO excuses for each E4 member to only have four Pokémon each. Out of the four types, Fire is the least plentiful in Kalos and yet there’s still TEN lines to choose from. XY was the first game after B2W2 to really embrace a focus on cross-generational team building rather than a heavy focus on the new ‘mons, and yet none of the NPCs in the game take advantage of that. Not only are overall team sizes small across the board even towards the endgame, but outside of battle facilities like the Chateau and Maison, there are 34 entire lines of Pokémon that go COMPLETELY unused by even the basic trainer NPCs and that’s WITHOUT counting legendaries and mythicals.

Yep, you cooked pretty dang well with Diantha's team here. Not the best, but it's a step up for sure. Is it really true, though, that her team's meant to reflect varying film genres? It could very well just be a coincidence and focusing on giving her solely Kalos Pokémon (barring Gardevoir).

I personally would've included Aegislash somewhere on her team for how reliable it is. I know it's Wikstrom's (original) ace, but like you said, it's not out of the realm of possibility for Gym Leaders' or Elite Four members' aces to be part of a Champion's team. I'm always eager to see fans tackle improving Diantha's team because she's been done dirty for so long...and spoiler alert: She doesn't even show up in the Z-A DLC. With the rival having a full Level 100 team, this would've been the PERFECT opportunity to include a true final battle against Diantha who makes a surprise return to see her daughter. Her team would've been tweaked to give her a showdown that would leave Cynthia herself with PTSD.

Idk how to feel about the fact your Diantha team does not have pokemons that all have a different highest stat

Loved your changes to everyone. I do wish Drasna would’ve made her Altaria match Wionia own, kept her sheer force life orb Druddigon and had Mega Ampharos as her main ace. Mainly cause I feel those fit her character more and she’s not reusing Iris or Cynthia’s Ace.

Diantha absolutely great changes. Honestly maybe Pangoro or a strong water type instead of Meinshoo and Florges.

But that’s my opinion and I still LOVE your ideas
