Rage Against the Machine "Evil Empire" album reaction: https://youtu.be/7VmCoPXZ-Fc

P.S.: You are exactly Rage's target audience: a thoughtful, intelligent young person. Almost 30 years in and Rage is more relevant than ever.

Easily one of the greatest debut albums of all time.

I was 13 when this came out.  As a white kid in Canada, this shit changed my life. opened my eyes and got me into reading about history and the truth about colonialism.  The most influential record I ever owned.  Many people criticize rage for being a part of capitalism while criticizing it, but fuck all that...There is no way to make change by ignoring the realities of the system, you need to infiltrate it to get your message out.  Im no communist but for fucks sakes, All of the west needs a wake up call to the coorperate greed and Neo Feudalism that is taking over. Respect for shining a light on this record for the youth.

The guitarists name is Tom Morello. He’s best known for his creative and unique guitar playing style. He’s able to make his guitar sound like a DJ scratching on the turn table or a police siren on a cop car. No one’s ever done that before him! Hes a legend.

I was a poor white teen from rural Appalachia when this came out. This changed my life and opened my eyes to the real world.  Once that door is open, it can never be closed.  Probably the most important and influential album of my life. We didn't have the internet. All we had was music and a few TV channels.

Never forget:  "Land of the free? Whoever told you that is your enemy!"

I was 20 when this album came out. It felt at the time that we were moving in a positive direction—young people together supporting our brothers and sisters throwing off all the shackles of convention—now, it feels like we’re going backwards. Keep fighting.

it was this band that first gave me an understanding of how concentration of power and wealth works to make our lives harder. my dad was a huge Rage fan from a young age, and when he showed me this album it blew my 12 year old mind. I combed through the lyrics and looked up every reference I didn't know about, and it showed me just how ignorant i was to the scope of the problems we face in this world. now at the age of 25 having participated in a bunch of activism and organizing, the way Zack delivers these themes with such unapologetic honesty and conviction still gives me chills and helps me shake off the hopelessness to change what needs to be changed that is all too common in our modern existence.

My father was a cop for 25 years. When this album came out, I was forbidden to listen to it. Ya know what I said? “Fuck you I won’t do what you tell me!!”

This album came out in 92 in the wake of the Rodney King beating. I was one year out of high school and this album blew my mind. Social studies in a band. Learned more from them than I did in HS. Love how Zack unapologetically speaks his mind and with conviction 🔥

Also Zach is of Mixed decent Mexican & I don’t recall, Tom is the son of a Kenyen Diplomat.  Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk hold down the tightest rhythm section in the known universe on Bass & Drums respectively. Seriously when these for humans hit a stage together, magic happens. Chis Cornell achieved similar results with them as Audioslave. You should absolutely check out Zach’s solo project One Day as a Lion. Flames!

This was an incredible reaction dude, love your views on things and I'm glad you enjoyed the record, hopefully you can check out some more albums like this in the future. Also since you brought it up, the rapper (Zack) is Mexican, the guitarist (tom) is half black/white, the drummer (brad) is Jewish and the bassist (tim) is white.

the "All live, never on a floppy disk" means the band, all sounds are guitar bass drums and vocals, any synth sounds you hear are actually guitar with a couple of wild FX pedals, but he is saying the music is not programmed, its played live each time

just saw them, the show is fucking wild. They're 100% real-deal true believers of the things they're saying. Tom Morello, the guitarist, is insane. The whole band is just so unique. No one sounds like RaTM.

There were no computers or synths on this recording. Every weird sound you hear came out of Toms Guitar or Tim’s Bass.

This is the voice of Gen X, I’m a 48 white dude from Philly grew up on all music, hip hop golden era , tribe , wu , de la, krs, and mowtown, rock of the 70’s .  When rage dropped this album I was in 10th grade this was the perfect mix of all our music we grew up on, Gen X was a real woke as you said. Then the system squashed it with 9/11 and distractions of technology. This music was meant to wake all of us up.. to stay focused and stay on target. The system doesn’t want harmony between races and its citizens it’s not profitable for the elite. Zach was trying to explain this. Anyway good to see a young dude checking this art out 20 plus years later.

You've probably heard a bunch of times but...

The lead guitarist is Tom Morello. He's the heart and soul of the band. It's his politics that guides the band. He's a cool dude too. Even though he's about as left as they come, he still has managed to maintain a friendship with Ted Nugent. I don't think I could do that. Fuck Ted. But Tom is a better man than me.

You talked about them being "woke." I'm not sure but that term might be named after Rage's song "Wake Up." They might've invented "woke."

Which brings me to my 3rd point. I find it hilarious when fellow middle-aged white people act like they are shocked by how stridently leftist Rage is. I mean, did you not listen to any of their lyrics??? WTF?

Anyway, good react!

Rage is about to go on tour you should experience them live! I can’t wait!

Young brotha, as a black woman who grew up listening to all types of music, RATM was a go to as a middle school and up teenager. It warms my heart to see your informed mind meeting one of the greatest bands of all time in my opinion and hands down the masters of Revolutionary consciousness through their music abilities. So underrated it's criminal, but with young people like you we can get people to connect the dots.😉. One love kiddo, 🖖🌺. P.s. not sure if you mentioned it, but check out the person on the cover Quang Duc. (If you're not familiar, but the way you talk, this is probably more for some in the comments) 🌺🖖

Don't usually comment or like videos but, zack is not the only woke person in this video, alot of respect for you brother. knowledge is true power, keep speaking the truth and helping others expand their minds through your introspections. you earned a sub.
