Fit Alterations on a Crepe Wedding Dress

This week’s video is about addressing fit alterations on a crepe gown for a stressed bride. We brought up the shoulders, took in the sides, reset the zipper, hemmed, and adjusted some pleating on the front bodice.
During this alteration, I was sure to explain every detail to make sure she was comfy moving forward with her alterations!

It is amazing to hear how much proportions change from size to size unlike standard womens clothing. Tailoring should be better celebrated, a magic performing profession!

Maybe- If the close up camera that’s attached to the mirror was attached more to the left, we would be able to see the upper body of the bride in the mirror in the whole body shots

I'm so grateful that you make these videos! I'm newer to the alterations game and it is so helpful to get your perspective. What is that purple marker tool you use to mark your stitch lines? Is it easy to remove the purple marks?

so what do you do when there is a dress like this, with no waist seam, and no seam allowances to let out? It seemed like it was a little tight over the hips, and they were were pushing it up, and it also buckled under the zipper also.

Incredible work! I think there was too little fabric to go over her butt without pulling from the start (you see the pull-lines all coming from the apex, that‘s noch just excess fabric). And that’s part of why it bunches up when she moves in the end. With Crepe there is nothing you can do to hide it, but you did amazing with what you had!
I sometimes wonder, why people are willing to spend so much money on an ill fitting dress and (understandably) expensive alterations, rather than having it custom made..? Maybe that’s just me, because I love making from scratch and hate alterating something someone else made..
