Louis CK is the king of dark humor. You shouldn't be talking about it. You shouldn't be laughing at it. BUT SOMEHOW YOU ARE. Love the guy.

Louis CK's "Everything's amazing and nobody is happy" is also pretty good!
I'm also in the duct tape club btw, but only a couple days until I got it repaired.

I saw an interview with Louis where he talked about his philosophy on writing bits. His goal is to take people to deeply uncomfortable places, and see if he can find his way out. This bit is a classic example.

Going straight into it, he got that from Carlin. He was his hero

I love how you made the George Carlin connection! Louis CK opening his special with an abortion joke is an homage to Carlins special Back in Town where he opens with "Why is it that most of the people that are against abortion are people you wouldnt want to fuck in the first place?"

Louis said the first hard laugh he remembers having as a kid was from a George Carlin joke.  15 years into comedy things werent going well and he decided to follow Carlins model of throwing all your material away each year and starting from scratch. He was terrified to give up the material he had (which was getting minimal reception) but he found the courage to take big swings and try to emulate George. This was a turning point in his career and he went on to become one of the best.  "Anything that ever happens to me thats good is due to this guy" - Louis CK about George Carlin

Anyone who can enjoy dark humor on this level has earned a sub in my book.

the video skips randomly to avoid copyright, dont pay attention to it

When you said "Good job everybody" i spit out my drink 🤣

you’re 100% right. his facial expressions are HILARIOUS

The cake analogy is bill burr

5:54 He isn't smirking because his joke was that funny for him, he was just relishing in the reaction from the audience.

he's dressed so nice, because this is a NETFLIX special :D haven't happened since :D

Thsts the thing about good comedians, they can make you laugh at the dark stuff. You hear people say "you cant make jokes about x", but you definitely can lol. Anything and everything can be the subject of a joke.

4:48 Louis has said that George Carlin was his biggest influence.

I listened to a lot of Louis C.K. without ever looking at the screen. Then one day I happened to look at him while he was telling a joke, and I realised I was missing half of the art. He is a brilliant actor as well as a great stand-up comic.

7:50 that's why he's the greatest.

Look great Heidi ❤:))! Always loving your laughter it’s the best!!!!!!

Absolute brilliant way of making people on both sides of the argument laugh.

Love Louis, saw him in 2023, was fantastic!

7:38 I've known a couple of people who commited suicide including my father but I still laugh when I hear things like this.
