1:50 It was actually a gigachad moment because whether he confessed to witchcraft or not, they would have killed him AND taken his children’s claims to his estate. By staying silent other than “more weight”, he allowed them to keep that claim and also stuck a big ol’ middle finger to the witch hunts.

A yard is three feet. A foot is about 30cm. It is a funny coincidence that that means a yard is about a meter (to within a pretty good human estimation) even though they were derived entirely differently.

The yard is based off of the average length of a man's arm from fingertip to sternum, which is about 3 feet; the foot is based off the length of King Henry I actual foot, which was 12 inches and the inch is based off of the average length of 3 barleycorn laid end to end.

This was all standardized back when measurements were still being given in finger-width, thumb (tip to first joint), palm, hand span (splayed pinky tip to thumb tip, cubit (elbow to wrist) and armspan (fingertip to fingertip with arms spread straight out). As you can imagine, king Henry's Imperial Standards made communicating lengths much easier due to differing body sizes. The castle's architect could measure a room, tell a local carpenter they'd like a table that is four armspan by two cubits then receive a table that is too large for the space because the carpenter's arms are much longer than the architect's. Changing it to eight yard by two feet, less four inches keeps things consistent since everyone is using the same base unit of a barleycorn.

I'm pretty sure that the Einstein misunderstanding was about different grading systems (don't remember what). One has 5 as the lowest and 1 as the highest while the other one had it the other way around. It's why the "he failed math" came to be.

7:37 I also think you sound aggressive... AGGRESSIVELY CUTE! 😘

Apparently snails like to eat glue irl, so it's lore accurate.

About the cherry tree, it's an American legend that as a kid Washington cut down his dad's prized cherry tree, but immediately confessed to it even though he knew he'd be severely punished for it. It was meant to show that he was the type of person that'd always do the morally correct thing.

Love seeing people watch Sam O'nella! Loved your reaction! Please watch more of him!!!

6:16 a yard is 3 ft but a foot is 0.3048 meters and not 1/3 of a meter

3:45 okay so to explain this is a common children's story in America about Washington. The story goes that as a child Washington chopped down his parents' cherry tree (for some reason) and when confronted he told the truth that he did it instead of lying to avoid punishment. For telling the truth he wasn't punished and was rewarded instead by being made president.

Mipyun is the witch, she make us laugh without even trying.

Another fun misconception; Americans aren't originally responsible for measurements like the foot, yard, and mile- rather, they were originally ancient measurements which were still in use by the British at the time of America's colonization and revolt, so we basically got them as a hand-me-down. There's actually a brass placard of the Official Royal Foot at the Royal Observatory in London to this day.

Nowadays, everywhere they're still used, they're actually based on Metric- which was made by the French- such that the actual modern legal and scientific definition of a foot is literally 0.3048 meters.

To clarify though, people were burned in Europe for being heretics. Just in the Americas, we didn't really wanna waste valuable timber on burning people alive when it could be used for firewood to not freeze to death.

I could believe that someone like Einstein failed math. I failed a math class in college while understanding it perfectly, I was among the top of the class in another course that requires using that kind of math. What I was bad at is following teacher's directions on how they wanted tests answered.  (I never ate glue)

now you made me curious on what glue tastes like.

Buddha refers to someone who has acheived enlightenment.

The one everyone calls Buddha is Siddhartha Gautama or Gautama Buddha. The guy who founded Buddism.

It's really complicated but think of Maitreya sorta like the second coming of Christ. Hasn't happened yet but it's suppose to, eventually, at some point... maybe...

For future reference, 1 yard is 0.9m.

Everyone got respect on my boy Giles Corey

Hiiiii Mipyunnn! Today I'm watching, another fun react! ~

Today I learned mip is a glue eater
