My favorite duolingo sentence was "Is your doctor 3 years old?" I hope not man.

11:33 PROFICIENCY NOT PROFANITY HAHAHAHA LMAO. Profanity is the first stuff you learn anyways.

before i say "unalived" i say "yeeted out of life".  i have spoken

9:34 It's the same reason there are multiple spoken languages, they just developed at different times in different places.

I once tried learning Russian and I made a mistake and the correction was „false it’s our phone“ like what are we communists

You have one of the cutest voices I've ever heard, Mina. I love your accent. 😊🖤❤️🤍

0:30 Speaking of widespread "international languages" like English, I remember reading this story somewhere on Reddit. Basically, there was an American businessman discussing things with a Chinese businessman. However, the American didn't speak Mandarin, and the Chinese businessman didn't speak English. However, they did happen to share another language...

Spanish.

So now you have this white guy and this Asian guy speaking to each other in fluent Spanish, which I'm sure must have been a surreal sight to see for anyone passing by.

(I saw this story ages ago, so take this with a krankenwagon full of salt. However, I choose to believe it; not because it's true, but because it's funny.)

Minairy: "I love Dutch, it's so funny to listen to"
Me, who is Dutch: "Ik kijk graag naar jouw reactievideo's. Jouw vtubermodel en je manier van praten spreken me zeer aan."

The sign language not being standardized makes actually a lot of sense. You could standardize it but on which languages grammar do you base it? It needs have underlying grammar to work properly and each version bases it on the local languages grammar to be easier to learn. Learning the signs is already difficult, now imagine learning completely new grammar that doesn't fit in any way into the grammar you're used to. That's like learning chinese where you don't just need to learn the words but also completely new sentence structures, etc. Deaf people still learn reading and writing so just learning the signs is good enough because you already learned the grammar.

12:20 Aluminum came first.  They added the I in later to make it fit the other elements and we Americans just kept calling it aluminum.

This technically shouldn’t have surprised me but it makes sense that a Swiss German elf knows French if not Italian as well.
PS : you have a warm voice .. first time noticing that.

14:14 Damn that was fluid
Could almost think you are a french native
17:20 Fun fact, Switzerland was under french domination for 20 years at one point

4:39 Funnily enough, there was an Estonian (?) brewery that sold a very dark beer called  "Motor Øl" and then a Germany brewery made a Helles called "Massage Øl"

11:30 It's "Proficiency" :p but to be fair, being able to cuss someone out in their language is a good indicator of fluency

11:15 Hungary mentioned in Minary's channel RAAAAAAAAAHHH BOILER ELADÓ!!!!

Max got pole on sprint.

23:53 the Sahara, Gobi, Kalahari are words for desert in there respective countries so the translation would be desert desert

What would you say is your first language, Swiss or German?

Pimsleur's learn languages are great Mina, I learned Norwegian, Russian and Japanese using their courses. Busy re-learning German, because I grew up learning old German and, ja das ist vorboden. Not quite, but people frown upon old German, my bestie is from Furstenburg, I'm South African to put this all into perspective. XD

4:31 Yes and likewise in the other North Germanic languages. Pretty sure the English 'ale' is related to those as well. Wonder if German used to have something of the sort as well.

2:47 zdravstvuyte/zdravstvuy is polite/formal version of privet.
11:26 i think the word you mean is `proficiency`.
