Do you need to replace the inlet manifold on your Land Rover Discovery 3 or 4? Watch this video for a step-by-step guide on how to get the job done.
A cracked inlet manifold is a common fault on the Ford Lion V6 engine used in many vehicles and it is expensive to get done in a garage/workshop mainly due to the hours involved in doing the job.
However, it is possible to replace the inlet manifold yourself with a good range of basic tools, the only real exception is the tool to remove the fan and possibly a slide hammer and adapter.
This repair was a success but I fear the Right-hand manifold may now need replacing. You don't save much time by doing the 2 together maybe half an hour or so.

I had to fabricate a 36mm spanner and the special tool to hold the fan pulley when undoing the fan.
Couple points to mention, this video forgets to say you need to slacken the auxiliary belt and take the idler pulley off to be able to pull the cam cover back. Also, removing the engine side of the battery tray helps a lot with access. Two things plastic pipes broke because they were so brittle. I think they are breather pipes that link the two intakes together. Also there is a small plastic pipe that connects onto the intake ducting that broke. Taped it back together for temporary fix until I get new pipes and holding after test drive, no faults. Bleeding the fuel is easy as long as you have the correct bike pump adapter. Also, you need to make a small adapter for the slide hammer to remove injector 6. I used a small piece of 5mm steel plate and drilled a 14mm and a 16mm hold to fit my slide hammer adapters. Big shout out to those pliers for the hose lines too. Slide hammer and pliers available on eBay.

How did you manage to get the fuel rail bolts out? Mine don't want to move at all and I am worried that I will round them.
