This is by far my favorite year of the Galaxie.

That 427 sounds AWESOME!!!!

the so-called “ gentleman’s hot rod” !!!

It’s called a “line lock”

Awesome... I want one..

When my sister was going to college, in 1978, she bought a used 1964 Ford Galaxie 500. She paid $250.00. After a friend vandalized the car with 90 weight oil and sugar in the engine and transmission. Since it was a reliable car she had it rebuilt. I later owned it and lent it to another sister. Then it was stolen and never seen again, around 1978. It was a little different than yours. It had a 289 V8 and C4 transmission. Standard shifter. Loved that car. Once drove it 250 miles to the beach and back for a weekend. I road so smooth for me.

As a 4-generation Ford family, the '64 Galaxie fastback has special place in my heart, as my father bought a new '64 Galaxie 500XL, 390-4bbl, 300hp, C-6 as our "family car" supposedly for my mother. The following year, he bought a '65 Sunbeam Tiger for himself. Not many better looking cars from that age as the '63-64 fastback Galaxies.  A '64 Galaxie R-Code "Lightweight" is my dream car, but WAY out of my budget.  Sounds like this one has 4:11's in it, based on the revs.  Either a Tremec 5-speed, or toss in some 3:55's would enable you to cruise on the freeway without the high revs, but who am I to question??   A beautiful vehicle!!🔥💙💪🏼

In fact over 2 tons. All iron big block with original starter and generator and cast iron water pump, heads and intake and exhaust manifolds, 4110 lbs. I've got one and weighed it. I've since lightened up the engine with a bunch of aluminum.

Oh man what a car.. love the R-codes ever since I was old enough to really know what they were. Thunderbolt is my favorite.. my mom had a white 64 Fairlane 500 when I was 10. Love it !

Would've liked to have a look at the car🙂

AS A LITTLE KID THIS WAS MY FAVORITE CAR BACK THEN... BEAUTIFUL...AND TODAY IT'S STILL MAY FAVORITE DREAM CAR.. AWESOME LOOKS AND BODY STYLE.. LISTENING TO THE OLDIES 🎶🎵🎶🎵📻DRIVING NOT ENOUGH TIME IN THE DAY OR NIGHT 🌜✨

My favorite car of all time! I want another! ❤🏁

1964 Galaxie XL 500 390  4Sp Convertible White Top Turquoise Bottom paid $1,500.00 in 1967 loved it!

My older sister has a 1964 390 Galaxie in our garage. :3 Still needs to get fixed though.

But the 427 is a whole different machine, few people got it with this engine but it's definitely one of the craziest sedans out there. My favorite part is the exhaust note.

One of the most beautiful muscle  cars ever made

Love the sound of that engine.  Reminds me of when I was a kid.  My aunt had a 63 Galaxie 500.  I think it had a 352 in it.  Really nice cars regardless of the engine choice.

Man!  So many roundabouts!

Esos sí que eran autos de verdad, no la basura que hoy se fabrica

Beautiful looking car.👌

stunning car.  engineering meets art, a symphony for all of the senses.
