I love the ones I had especially the two 427 ones 63 and 64 .

Police departments usually used the custom 500.

In the late 60's, I had a 64 Galaxie 500 convertible with a 390 four barrel. Interesting story here (or not). I was driving out in the country (nothing nearby) and my gas line broke a few feet up from the gas tank. I only had a pair of pliers and a screw driver and maybe something else. I cut out about a foot or so of the gas line and reconnected the two ends with the hose from the wipers and used a piece of wire as a hose clamp on each end. This got me back to the city (about 15 miles). I drove it straight to a garage for repair. When I took off the wiper hose to put back, it disintegrated in my hands as soon as I touched it; high test gas. So I have a special memory of that wiper system. I never really experienced them slowing down on acceleration. Great memories. Thanks.

I have a 1964 Ford galaxie 500 XL 390 fe motor all original

Early to mid 70's burgundy with white vinyl top....my dream car ever since we had ours at I think 8 or 9yo... A dear friend in college [Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA in the early 90s] had THE CONVERTIBLE...leather seats stained with my 🤤 drooling envy!!! 😂😂😂

The 62 Ford galaxie convertible is my all time favorite! 🚦

I have a beautiful '64 Galaxie 500 convertible with a 352 and a 4-barrel carb.  Love the car.

I paid 800 for a 64 black with red bucket seats front and rear, 390 that was showroom new, a lady traded it in on a brand new 75 Ltd that morning, i was 15 years old and sold hides, and hauled hay and bought it that summer, it was beautiful,

Parents Had Five Galaxie 500 Automobiles and would put on more than 125,000 miles on each.

The 50s had vacuum wipers

I’m about to start dallying my 64 galaxie 500 xl

They were really American. I want to go back knowing what I know now.

Lots of bad info here.

Do people just make this stuff up or what?"  This video has misleading and flat-out false information.  First, outside performance high-end / luxury models, ALL cars from Detroit in the late 1950s and early `60s came STANDARD with a 3-on-the-tree column shift.  As a matter of fact, most continued right through the 1971 model year.  Why on earth would column shift be considered a “secret” of the Galaxie?

Secondly, in similar fashion ALL the manufacturers were offering vinyl roofs.  As a matter of fact, in 1969, Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile and Dodge actually installed more vinyl tops than Ford.  Only Plymouth was less.  Again, how’s that some kind of “secret”??

Third, Ford never offered the 427 in any police package, ever.  That engine was intended for racing and cost much more as a result.  It also was expensive to maintain and more difficult for Ford to warranty for law enforcement duties.  There’s no material, brochure, data book or what not from Ford showing it was ever offered for police service.  Moreover, to date there’s NEVER been a single documented example ever of a 427 police car.  It may have happened for testing or a few one-offs, but that's it.  They were NEVER deployed in fleets.

Fourth, the ONLY years Ford offered Galaxie police cars during the 1960s was 1962 (Galaxie Mainliner, not Galaxie 500), 1963 (most were “300”, not Galaxies) and 1969.  The rest of the years Ford Customs and Custom 500 Sedans except 1960-61 which were Fairlanes.

I wish these so-called “car people" would leave history to those who actually care.  Not doing so is a complete DISSERVICE to the classic car community and the cars themselves by virtue of disseminating false & misleading information.  If you’re going to continue making these videos, then DO YOUR HOMEWORK.

Ai is hardly intelligent. It's actually quite stupid like the content creator!

So much disinformation
