That bike makes the most delicate deep rumbling sounds. It's like music.

Good analogy, Sportster being agricultural. Some what hard to ride, but very rewarding, very visceral. Hopefully once I'm fully recovered from my chemo, and radiation I'll be back out on mine. 👍🏼

Being from Australia it's hard to imagine going through three countries in a day of 400km odd of riding. We can ride that far and still be in the same state. Amazing to see all that history as well.

Love the way those pipes keep popping when you decelerate.

I’m from south-east Belgium, and I ride a Forty-Eight Sportster that I love to bits. Something you said really resonated with me: that urge to keep going just a little farther, to draw another Sportster line beyond the next bend, looking sideway to watch the light play across the fields beside you, and to wonder about the lives of the people and the history of the small places you pass through. I find myself doing exactly the same. Sometimes the road seems to decide for us. The French-speaking part of Belgium is well worth a longer ride. The road surfaces aren’t always the best, but the scenery, the history and the food are absolutely bonkers. By the way, the owner of the hotel in Nivelles where you stayed is a true gentleman with a genuine appreciation for fine motoring, and the restaurant really does serve excellent food. Over the past four years I’ve covered about 42,000 km: to southern Spain, around the Mont Blanc, a full loop of the Netherlands, a push through the French Ardennes, the Morvan, and plenty of roads in between. There are always, more waiting to be ridden. Any excuse to head out is a good one. And don’t believe what that Flemish petrol station attendant told you. Belgians, whether Flemish or Walloon, are all just a little bit mad behind the wheel. It’s been a pleasure discovering your channel tonight. I’m watching this episode from my hotel in Kyiv, where I’ve driven for work. You have a wonderfully natural way of looking at motorcycling that feels entirely genuine, and your quiet beauty seems simply to belong in that world. I find myself sharing much of your philosophy. Perhaps our roads will cross one day.

Your bike sounds so good, tight, and fast. Beautiful scenery. Thank you.

My wife and I holidayed in the UK and France on our Road King but she had to stop riding after many years because of a medical issue, so I downsized to a 1200 centenary sportster with a Sreamin' Eagle pipe; loved that bike and sounded fantastic. Watching your travels brings back many happy memories, thank you.

I really love the facts you included in your video that explain parts of your journey that some of us may not have context for. It really helps to feel more immersed in your trip! Very cool! Thanks for sharing.

France has ageless towns and natural countryside mixed with an unpretentious warmth of sophistication.
Loved this relaxing vid - like going back in time to a simple more natural era.

At the age of 65 I just realized what has been missing all my life... A Tomboy..... thank you for making me see it.... and have a great year.. or the rest of it atleast....

I really enjoyed the historical “notes” as you traveled 🏍️😃👍!

Harley, especially Sportster, are a very basic design & from the farming area of the USA, the agricultural character shows. I chose to stop riding my Sportster 20 years ago as my vision was no longer good enuf. Seeing you ride thru your camera’s eye & hearing the XL rev thru the gears has been a special treat. Glad I found your site, thanks for posting. I have ridden around much of Canada & USA from 1966 thru 2006. Keep riding, you have my sentiment about life on 2 wheels, especially a Sportster. They are a geat motorcycle. Maybe not the best at any one thing, but good at everything. Peace.

...i'm planning on riding from germany to isle of man next year

The guy's comment about Belgian drivers being not really ok, especially at the french speaking part cracked me up 😂 Especially as in the french speaking part, we say that the drivers in the dutch speaking parts are the ones who can't drive for shit 😂

I'm moved by your description of the sensations you experience riding a motorcycle in France.
Thanks to you, I've just consciously realized how lucky I am.
And also, yes: that longing for the road to never end
(even if our fragile little bodies do bring us back down to earth :-D )
Thank you so much!

Awesome trip. Thanks for allowing us to come along.  Cheers!

what a beautiful sounding motorcycle

Greetings from Australia! Nice to see a Sporty being ridden well. I ride a 1997 Sportster, that has a 1275 Hammer Performance kit on it. It used to be an 883. With the 2-1 exhaust system and the perfectly balanced engine, it's very smooth to ride and has excellent ground clearance with shocks 1 inch taller than the factory ones. Gives the sports bike riders a bit of a surprise going through the winding roads in the Victorian highlands.

Well done Dee ,,love the small pieces of history and facts.

A dead battery is a bummer, but being able to jump start it with a brick sized device is awesome.
