Chinese knock off will always be a fake, Brompton is never going away, the bikes is sold for their workmanship, and some collect them as Art.  You might have reach the twilight of your ownership or enthusiasm for them, but I can tell you, I was in Asia, these things are highly desirable and is used for transportation and as statement of class. So, you have the right to express your opinion, but I think Brompton will be around for a very long time, as City grows, more and more people will want them for City living.

I have an A Line. It was a great deal.  With the money saved I got 165mm cranks, reduced gearing, a dyno hub, and a light.  I spent less money than a c line.  Hurray 🎉

I'm reminded of the once great British motorcycle industry that was too complacent and arrogant to see the threat from the far east - so a feeling of deja vu for sure.
I suspect double-barreled Billy is too blinkered to see the inevitable, and this is a real shame.

In 2019 I bought a SuperlightM6LXBrompton for the Vacation Money saved during COVID19! Sadly my dear wife wouldn't allow my bike to be brought to our most used vacation place for years, Malta (They ride in the wrong side on narrow roads, so it never happened, though I mentioned it was built to ride in the wrong side!), and now I'm too old for it, as 78.  But I have rebuilt my bike to now around 9 kilos with mudguards, and a weight close to a T-line.  The Craftmanship on the bikes are fine, but most lighter Titanium and Carbon parts are from China and Taiwan, even the Brompton specific discs and nuts and the axle in front. And a Brompton is bought for its fold and not for its ride!   Finn. Denmark

I do agree on most of your comments, also the ones about estethics. Speaking materials: absolutely NO aluminium frame parts for me, nor carbon fibre. I just love an all steel bike (or titanium).
However I don't share any worries about little differences in weight. In my opinion, most Brompton riders are way too over obsessed with a few kilos more or less, while many of them could easily 10+ kilos of excess body fat.

You are absolutely right and the A is the best value you can buy, I'm currently in China and the so called fakes are very good and much less £$€¥

You make some good points (in a very depressing way). However, insisting that something is ugly (or beautiful) does not make it so; both are "in the eye of the beholder".

Great video, really enjoyed it

Aside from technical design reasons, Brompton had to change the curves of the frame for the G Line because the patents for the classic C Line designs have already expired years ago.  That's why you will find a lot of Brompton clones for sale.  They have their own brands (so are not counterfeits), but the curves of their frames are those of the classic Brompton.  They can file for new patents with the revised curves.

Just bought a new P line Urban and it’s much faster and lighter than my old dymo from 2019.  I love my new one

They have become WAY too expensive for "everyday" people to even consider, and that's the problem. CEO's and upper exec's are ruining companies because they have become too greedy.

15:00 If the reason for moving from the Birdy is to have a bag in the front… simply get a block carrier from H&H or Litepro. I've done it, and am very satisfied

Although it's an engineering challenge to preserve the folding that makes the Brompton such a convenient commuter, the team should really use a compact mid-drive motor à la Bosch SX: Better weight distribution, and more torque. Only cheap e-bikes still use front/rear drives.

And put the battery on (or in the frame à la Ahooga Max) or handlebar so the bag isn't needlessly half-filled with it.

Hi, enjoyed your video, very well presented and informative, thanks. I own a C line 6 speed Brompton and love it, but I kind of feel the same as you regarding the future of Brompton. It's unfortunate but they are struggling to keep up with cheaper competition, even here in UK. They are trying to be innovative and still appeal to the classic buyers, but very difficult nowadays. You made some very good points which I hadn't thought about, thanks 👍

Brompton was built on the concept of having a quality tool bike for compact commuting in the city.Depending on the terrain in your city the C-Line Explore model fits the needs of most commuters quite well. Everything else is unnecessary fluff that adds very little compared to the cost. Chasing weight is a zero sum game for a folding bike that is inherently on the heavy side. The weight penalty is offset by the fact that the bikes are extremely durable and long lasting,a much more desirable attribute than becoming feather weight.Yes Brompton is struggling however I believe if they went back to their roots and focused on their core products ( ditching electric drive trains and that ridiculous gravel bike)  the trimmed down company will succeed in their original focus which is commuting.

Agree on the p line, I have just ordered one and didn’t want the new carbon fork model.  The 2026 changes look like just cost savings to me

7:29 ...this looks really like a bad collage of parts made for different bicycles! Electrification of the old 16" concept which was initially made for compactness and simplicity was never gonna be perfect anyways! Its not necessarily bad that they are expanding and I personally find the G and T Line designs appealing. They probably should have gone for less Versions/ Lines more engineered/ integrated in completion...

You are wrong, your points make sence, but for the same reasons that Ferrari, Tesla, Rolex , Zeiss , Leica will not disapear, Bromoton also will not. It is a high price Produkt thag will find its buyers in the future also

I got my 2 speed C Line Brompton weight cut down from 25 lbs to 16.50 lbs by upgrading to carbon handlebar, seatpost, saddle, and wheels then upgrading fork, triangle, stem, pedals and bolts to titanium. Aluminum external bearing crankset, tpu inner tube and lighter folding bead tire. Lighter brake levers and 11 speed chain full hollow. Light as the T-line but still costly. Cost me $4300 in total but could of been cheaper if you bought frame only.

Exactly this
Brompton ahould keep
A line
C line
P line for masohists
Screw t line
And don’t cheap on bolts, put at least stainless and that’s it!

I would like to know why the new C Line 4 Speed (non electric) would not be an option?
