I'm always amazed when people haven't heard of this song. This remake will beat any song, any version -- any ANYTHING. Glad you got to experience it - finally! :)

The Sound of Silence, Song by Simon & Garfunkel ‧ 1964 Song written by Paul Simon. Disturbs version is so good.

The Live version on Conan o-Brian is amazing!! And this songs message is even more pragmatic today, with all the technology, people text but do speak to each other- voices never heard, Kids literally ask people out on dates VIA texting. so bad how we are losing a major part of the Human experience through the modern world. this song spoke this a 1/2 century ago.

The original is great but this cover by Disturbed is awesome! The lead singer David Draiman said he wanted to make a song his grandmother could listen to, so he decided to cover this Simon & Garfunkel classic. The band Disturbed have also covered other great songs such as "Land Of Confusion" by Genesis [Phil Collins original band] & "Shout" by Tears For Fears.

One of the few songs that the cover is better than the original. David really captured the heart and soul of this song. The emotion in his voice matches the words of the song better then the original.

This is a cover song from the original artists Simon & Garfunkel who had a massive hit of this song with the same name, I live Disturbed’s version I think they did a good job but I still prefer the original by S & G.

The original was a warning on the direction we were heading. This version is anger that we didn't heed the warning and let it happen. The version by Pentatonix is hope that maybe we can still turn things around and come back.

In regard to being surrounded by people but feeling disconnected, one of my favorite lyrics is, "I won't be alone, but you know that don't mean I'm not lonely." from Bed of Roses by Bon Jovi. PS, I've always loved the original, but this is a perfect cover in my mind. I think Disturbed captured the emotional essence of the lyrics in a way that the original didn't. Another example of this is the Beatles song Help! - check it out, listen to the Beatles version first, closely paying attention to the lyrics, then listen to John Farnham's version of the same song. 👍

If you enjoyed this, you should check out Disturbed’s performance of this song on Conan O’Brien. It’s absolutely chilling.
This is the second Simon and Garfunkel song that has been covered by a metal band (that I’m aware of).

95% of the reactors use the word ‘WOW’ while listening to this song; some more than once.

The rasp is called vocal fry, very common in metal

Simon and Garfunkel sounds like "HOPE & SUNSHINE"
Disturbed sounds like "Desperation and Despair"

Song was written over 50 years ago

There are three popular versions of this song, the first and original by Simon and Garfunkle which was a warning to us all. Then this, which has the tone of anger that the warning was ignored. And Finally the pentatonix version that offers hope for us still. Listen to all three back to back to back and it is amazing!
