Hello everybody! It's me, today's writer! As you may have noticed, the video is a bit longer than usual, and there will be another 2-to-3 hour episode of mine shortly. I would be super happy to get your feedback on these super-deep dives. Is this something you appreciate? Or would you rather have it shortened?

Also (SPOILER!!!) I have a factual correction to make: The bomb in Hanover actually had a killswitch - a fact I only became aware of after the episode had been recorded. I was misled by another incorrect account and didn't realise it in time. I am sorry about that!

Conspiracy theory: The writers are increasing the length of the script to keep Simon preoccupied. That way, they can dig the secret tunnel out of the basement have some more free time to refine their mushroom soup recipe.

His biggest mistake was trusting in Deutsche Bahn's punctuality

Man, its nice to see Simon just have a good time through the whole script. The stories are often dark and draining on him... but he just seemed to be having a good time like a kid reading Nancy Drew.

I'm only an hour in, but hearing about his childhood (abuse aside) he sounds like he might be autistic. As a Mother to  neurodivergent children, it breaks my heart that he couldn't just be left to sit with those chickens where he was happy and safe, away from the confusion of the "real" world. I want to scoop up this little boy and give him the love and understanding he probably needed.

Well, I started this thinking, “3.5 hours?! You’ve gotta be kidding me! Well, I’ll start it, anyway…” It’s now 1:20 am and I have thoroughly enjoyed this wild ride. Applause to Deniz, and well done Simon for sticking with it and presenting it with your usual verve. Wonderful! And I don’t miss the absence of mangled bodies a bit.

Hooray a heist episode to help Simons mental health!

Simon, all of your writers are actually Top Class. Some wrote a deep dive of a case, some with First Hand data and research, and now you have one who EXCLUSIVELY talked to the source.

This is legit impressive

Just so we are all clear: the basement theories and Simon’s overactive tangents will NEVER GET OLD…”am I right Peter!!!!”

I want Simon to narrate an audio book where he goes off on tangents about the randomest things and then goes back to reading

I am German. I remember the whole country being captivated by this when i was a child. Almost rooting for him to outsmart the police again. And later he was in every talkshow

Dennis needs a raise this whole 3.5 hours was more enjoyable than any of the directors cut LoTR's movies

Well Deniz has 900% earned himself a day trip out of the basement for this! It was a masterpiece! Such amazing and beautiful writing, and I was completely and utterly absorbed in it, the mixture of the exquisite writing and Simon's perfect reading made this just wonderful! I would love to hear more from the detective's other cases, that sounds like a really fun twist on the Casual Criminalist. I always look forward to these being released. Thank you Deniz, Simon and Jen for your hard work

Almost a decade ago I was watching a Top Tenz video and Simon couldn’t get through a particular sentence without chuckling. I remember saying to my husband “I really wish this man would show more of his personality in his videos, he seems like such a funny guy!”

Boy oh boy did I get my wish granted 😂 THANK YOU!

I love how Simon's attempt to empathize with the subject's harsh upbringing was to say, "One of my homes in the countryside only has well water that I have to push a button to pump." 😂😂😂

Even though the brutal subjects are more popular. This case has it all suspense, comedy, empathy and wholesome people I hope we get more stories like this

Damn, I musta missed this episode of DuckTales...

Deniz has absolutely outdone himself. This is easily one of the most enthralling episodes I’ve seen of this show and without question some of his greatest work. I am so excited to listen to more of his writing in the future! Please keep up the good work.

Ah, I love when Simon misses the joke! "A duck-shaped capitalist pig." "He's a duck, Dennis, not a pig!"

Simon finding out about Chester without even processing what "died from depression" means is somewhat simultaneously so sad and so funny.
