We crossed the Nullarbor for the first time in 1971, 3 days after we got married. We drove that unsealed section at night in an XT Falcon. Crossed the Nullarbor 28 times in total. I enjoy your videos and I’m glad you enoyed WA (especially that Walpole boat trip ❤).

In the late 1960s friends of mine in their late teens with a toddler, crossed the Nullabor in a Mini Minor. Camped as they went. Just goes to show how simple you can do things. They had the time of their lives.

Hey Paul and Wenda, thanks for sharing the last leg of your Nullarbor trip. There’s certainly some worthwhile towns to stop. Glad that the truck fire didn’t cause you too much inconvenience, and very glad that no one was hurt.

I travelled the old Eyre with my parents and big brother in 1956, in our FJ Holden. I was going on 7 yrs old. And yep, it was rough! Saw rabbits, roos, camels, and more rabbits. Some of the memories are pretty sketchy now what a trip it was. Dad wasn't an adventurous sort so I reckon he had a brain-snap to decide to drive it. Only trouble, a couple of punctures and a slide-out or two. Dad was no speedway driver.. Took about a week to get to our destination, Ballarat Vic, from Perth.

Such a great adventure thanks for sharing. We have crossed the Nullarbor many times with our van and find new camp spots each time. There are so many interesting and varied places. WA is fantastic and you captured it perfectly. Safe travels ahead for you. Thanks again for your efforts.

We did the Nullabor (7 weeks away) last year in late August and all of September. Pre-made lunches certainly make for quick, cheaper stops. I did salad bowls like yours, homemade salad wraps and rolls and even hotdogs one day. Heated the buns in a frypan, hot dogs on the gas stove. We stopped and were going again in 30 minutes.
We had to stop for just over 2 hours because of a car/truck accident not long after we left Caiguna. Thankfully, only minor injuries to the 4WD driver but their caravan adventures stopped there.
We had a bit of dust come into our van after travelling a rough corrugated road and realised the van manufacturer had put the door vent on backwards so we were scooping in the dust! We turned it around and covered it with cardboard for the next day or two. Dust everywhere!
We were impressed with all the roads in WA, barely a pothole or patch! Come back into SA and it’s. different story!
We only bee-lined it across and back but if we ever do it again, we’ll take more time next time.
We got done for an extra $1/litre too!

Ha. We did the Nullarbor in 1966 in a Kombi when I was 6 or so months pregnant. It was an adventure. We had a young 19 months old boy as well.
Memories. Enjoyed your trip.
