2 Hours of Buddhist Teachings on Letting Go — Fall Asleep and Stop Carrying It
Some things become heavier the longer we carry them—old regrets, painful memories, worries about the future, expectations, resentment, and things we simply cannot change.
Tonight, allow yourself to put some of that weight down.
This 2-hour Buddhist sleep meditation offers gentle reflections on letting go, craving and attachment, impermanence, non-self, and quieting persistent thoughts. Inspired by early Buddhist teachings, these reflections are presented slowly and peacefully so you can simply listen as your body relaxes and your mind moves toward sleep.
Buddhist teachings repeatedly examine how suffering is connected with craving and clinging, and how freedom involves relinquishing that grasping. The teachings on the five aggregates also invite us to see our experiences without treating them as permanently “mine” or “my self.” For a restless mind, Buddhist texts additionally offer practical approaches for allowing persistent unskillful thoughts to settle.
You do not have to solve everything tonight.
You do not have to keep replaying what has already happened or carry every uncertainty about tomorrow. Simply notice what the mind is holding onto. Allow thoughts to come and go without following every one of them.
Settle into bed, lower the lights, close your eyes, and listen for as long as you need. If you fall asleep before the end, simply rest.
May these teachings help you carry a little less and rest a little deeper tonight.
