Now I see the attraction that more and more people are having to riding old bikes...at least the ones who do their own maintenance. Seriously good work on a cold day, my friend!

Good on you Steve. The patience of a saint. I'm not a BMW fan boy. And after watching you dissect this bike to get access to the valves. Never will be. Makes my Bandit 1250 childs play to work on.

I grew up in the black and white days and was on spanners for many many years watching what you went through here I felt exhausted by the end, thank God I'm retired, Well done Sir.

I can see why people call you out as taking all the body work off is one ball ache , bring back the sixties style motorbike design. Champion work Steve working in the cold.

THANK YOU for this video.  This made working on my bike feel  just like when I was a wee lil lad going for a stroll having my hand held the whole time!    Feeling nice and safe.

That is just an insane amount of work — incredible. All those screws, bolts, and clips. Insane, just insane… Great video! I was (and honestly still am, despite all this work) thinking about trading my 1200GSA for an S1000XR next year.

You have so much patience. What a faff.

Top job by a top guy. Very professional and excellent workmanship. Was lovely to meet you mate keep up the good work. I'll definitely be using you again. Thank you

This shows perfectly why it costs so much more to get modern bikes serviced now. So much bodywork to remove before you can even start on the job you need to get done. It all takes time, and time is money - our money. Having said that I did enjoy the vid. 👍

I did this job on my 2019 XR last year, what an absolute ball ache!!! And when I got the rocker cover off, worn cam lobes on cylinder No1 on the intake, then huge battle with BMW to get it sorted, well done.

this makes working on my suzuki rf900r childs play lol

FANTASTIC work Steve again. Least your client knows the work has been done because they can watch it all like I have. 👍👍👍 Whoever is filming it, 10 out of 10 for their patience.  THANKYOU. I am a BM man but I won't be treating myself to that model. 😭😭😭

Watched a few of your videos and have now subscribed. Appreciate good workmanship, 👍

Great Video.
Yeah, it’s true — the S 1000 XR isn’t exactly a joy to service! But once you’re back in the saddle, all that effort fades away fast. The performance, comfort, and handling are just next-level. For me, it’s a small price to pay for the ride you get in return. She’s a beast with finesse — and worth every fairing bolt!

With that amount of work, i would never trust a motorcycle shop to do the job😅

Love the detail & content of your videos.  Keep it coming

Brilliant video, I’ve watched many vids on XR’s over the years but never seen a valve clearance check, thanks very much for the detailed breakdown.👍👍

………a few hours later 😡😡 well done Steve on stripping that down without cracking or breaking any panels. I would have lost my cool with this after about the 4th panel. Sod that for a game!

Lost me just after the first fairing came off! Great job.👍

Good afternoon superb video it's fascinating to see how much work is involved for a service on modern motorcycles so very enjoyable 😊😊😊
