How Dennis Nedry Was Supposed To Die In Jurassic Park

In Micheal Crichton’s Jurassic Park book the scene where Dennis Nedry is attacked by a spitter dinosaur is pretty dark. But in the movie the Dilophosaurus is much smaller and it has a way more toned down feel. Still the stuff from the 1993 movie is iconic and here I explain how the movie changed the scene from both the novel and the early storyboards which featured what might just be a darker version (albeit still very toned down from the novel).

The way I see it. In Jurassic Park, the Dilo that spits venom on Nedry wasn’t the one that killed him. There was a second Dilophosaurus that was already in the car and it got in off screen when he left his door open. The second Dilophosaurus was the one that got him.

Nedrys death in the novel has stuck with me for years tbh.
I think the shot of Nedry clawing at the seat would've fueled countless nightmares if added in.

It was the perfect example of less is more. You knew it was violent but it didn't need to be comically gory on screen for you to know he got messed up. Wayne Knight's screaming absolutely sold it and he doesn't get enough credit for that.

Nedry's death scared the crap out of me as a kid the dilo's spitting in his face then all we hear is his scream as we see the dilophosaurus rips at him from inside of the jeep.

Nothing can top Nedry’s death in the novel. Except for maybe one particular kill, if you know, you know

They should’ve showed this… sometimes I wish Jurassic Park 1,2,3 would’ve all been rated R 😢

I still wish they just stuck to the novel overall.
Or at the very least presented a fully grown Dilophosaurus.

Pretty cool video of how Dennis is supposed to die in Jurassic Park 1993 and I’ll admit that Dennis’s death from the book is more violent than the one that we see on screen, so deadly and extremely terrifying.
Great work Klayton and as always, Take Easy and Life Always Finds A Way.

If I could ever make a live action tv show of the series, I'd definitely want to recreate or remix the novel scene and also include the movie Dilos, but as babies of the adult Dilo and fail to actually blind him, with the adult Dilo being the one to actually blind Nedry and then follows the rest of the novel scene directly before the babies jump in to eat to end the scene.

Oohh...aahhhh...that's how it starts. But later there's running...and screaming...

I don't know why, but i randomly thought of a group of dilophosaurs synchronized swimming to swan lake when i clicked this video 😂😂😂

Getting home from a meeting and seeing a new Klayton video has dropped = best way to relax. Thanks for all you do!

Nedry’s death unsettled me when I watched the movie for the first time and it still does.

Nedry's death in the novel sounds like it could've been the inspiration for the Anchisaurus death in When Dinosaurs Roamed America.

The dilophosaur death of nedry is absolutely scary it scared me as a kid including the raptors.

It makes sense that some versions of the Dilophosaurus were bigger than the ones we got in the movie. In reality they were significantly larger.
Nice SNES Jurassic park BG theme btw. I know Raptor Rap when I hear it.

Nedry's death in the novel still scares the living crap out me every time I read it.
The movie made his death memorable but this in my opinion would have been way cooler. I would have to agree with Klayton, it would add a mystery element to the movie.

Nedry in the book was wishing for death, like, he was so scared and so defeated that in his mind was wishing it would be over. That's powerful.

The book was so gruesome. They brought in a guy that got attacked by the raptoes to a hospital basically kinda like the guy who gets attacked in the beginning they describe the doctors being confused by the weird slimy saliva all around the gruesome wounds.
