I love the Philippines. I am proud to be
Filipina. But today I am talking about the
parts of Filipino culture that drain me
the things nobody talks about
because saying anything feels like betrayal.

It is not betrayal. It is honesty. And I
think we need more of it.

I just want to make clarification guys, I love my immediate family ☺ they're not the family I'm referring too, I'm referring to some of my relatives . My immediate family are good people, they know boundaries and I'm so lucky for that. Of course in a family there's always the jealous one, the one who thinks they are also entitled of your success and money which those are some of my relatives.

There has to lines that are not crossed, because saying "No" or "I Can't" doesn't mean that you don't support them.
The old saying - "The more you give, the more they want" is true. You set the boundaries, the limits so your life doesn't fall off the cliff. We see it happen all the time.
This happens to many Filipinas (that are friends) that come to America and are single and living paycheck to paycheck like slaves, sending money home that they truly need. It's so sad to see :hand-orange-covering-eyes:

Now I was surprised. Imagine hearing a Pinay speak the truth about her culture and her fellow Filipinos? I've watched this vlog twice!

I’m going to give you my opinion after being married to my Filipino ex wife for 27 years . The best way to avoid most of the drama is encourage your foreign husband to keep a separate bank account instead of having a joint bank account. Also warn him not to give your family any money that way if you want to give your family money it has to come out of your account and if you have no money you can blame your husband 😂😂😂. When I was married to my wife i learned to ask her for every little detail about vacations or anything to do with money because if her family was involved nothing was ever simple

This was such a well-done video with an interesting and important subject. I’m sure you had to have a lot of courage to make it because of the potential backlash of people in your community. Thank you for sharing your honest feelings and observations. These are the types of videos that really help relationships between Filipinas and foreigners because it provides an insight we rarely get to see. Please continue to make these types of videos and stay strong.

I am captivated by this. I have so so many thoughts going through my head as you speak such in depth truth. 1 is, the girl is finding herself and becoming a true mature women.
Hi. Its David again from the US.
I want to tell you, I have been to the Phillipines for months on 2 seperate trips.
I have been watching videos of SE Asia for 5 years. I have a girl I have been with for almost 2 years from Cebu.
This is forsure one of the most attention getting streams I have watched yet.
I understand you so clearly and agree with you. I can see what you are saying every word.
Entitlement in my opinion is enabling. Most always who we give freely to for a lifetime is who will always expect more and more. It will drain us of ourselves (and its not just money either). I could say so much. But, I will just leave it at that. Welcome to becoming a full on independent, chain breaking women for many who haven't seen this light yet.
We will always help those who do their best to help themselves. Always.
This was such a infiltrating heart and soul feeling, mind (thinking) stimulating video.

Thanks for the heartfelt and honest comments about Filipino culture. I can relate to all of it, and agree with you. It took a lot of patience to help my Filipina wife grow the courage to say NO. They cut ties with us, but the pressure and guilt they imposed on her finally stopped. I enjoy your videos. Of all the Filipino channels yours is the most genuine.

I am a Canadian married to a Filipina and we live in her hometown. One of her sisters is an OFW and she has the best answer to those asking for things. She simply says I AM NOT SANTA CLAUS.

First time here, I appreciate you sharing this perspective. I’ve heard it before and honestly, it is one of the things that I would nip in the bud ASAP if I got involved with a Filipina. I’m not saying to cut off the family 100% but there have been methods described that I would use to show that I am both willing to help but refuse to be taken advantage of. It is not going to happen. So, do not allow yourself to be a doormat. You need to set reasonable boundaries and explain them honestly. Forget all this face shaming saving whatever. You cannot let yourself be used until there’s nothing left. That becomes a you problem. One of the things I would strongly suggest me and my new Filipina do is go look at other places to live. This doesn’t instantly resolve any advantage taking issues but it’s a first step and then I like the allowance method of giving your Filipina as an Expat a modest allowance and she will need to learn how to dole it out fairly and that’s it. There is no more. Don’t ask or I’ll cut you off lol

As a foreigner that has dated Filipinas and observing the burdens that the Filipino culture and family places upon her, especially when she’s dating a foreigner will not make me want to marry into that.
