So if I find an unemployed gal, then I am not expected to pay the family, right? She was not paying anything. So now I wouldn't be expected to suddenly help replace that $0 income of hers. Plus, I owe no 'debt' to these people. Most, or all of which I have never even met. I mean, what kind of culture would expect a stranger to pay for them? That would be crazy. Or am I missing something?

I would love to show my filipina around the US. It's one of the most beautiful countries in the world. It would be nice to see the amazement in her face and eyes. If she was a vloggger she could document our journey together.

It might be a tradition to take care of the family, but not a requirement! Just like the Filipina adapting to a better lifestyle! It comes at a cost of adapting to the family being more self reliant! Parents should be cared for to a point! When it becomes a guilt thing and affects the relationship boundaries are the answer! It's sad to see a child's future compromised by a lack of planning if a precious generation.

To be honest, I agree in which that's what happens when it comes down to it.The labeling is bullshit.But at the same time , though , as making it a special occasion is more practical and a lot more realistic than people take grant so that Filipina you with doesn't get that kind of mentality

I think it is the duty of those of us that won the sperm lottery and happened to be born in the first world to help those in need in the third. I actually care about people other than myself though, which is very uncommon for most American's.

If your filipina is working and you ask her to stop then of course you should replace the financial commitments that she is then unable to meet, my filipna fiancé and I are marrying in January with her coming to live with me after the spouse visa goes through. She wants to work and will have no problem getting employment, but in the time it takes for that to happen it will be my responsibility to provide everything she needs until she has her own income again.

She is expensive because of this: the trip here, the taking care of her family, but, it's worth it to me. She is the bread winner. She is excellent managing money. Cooks at home, takes public transport, and we live in a house in the province. She had traveled internationally before meeting me, was an OFW for over 10 years. Restaurants are only monthly. We have a car. My choice, I wanted it for myself. I live here in the Philippines. We're building a new house, again, my choice, she did not ask for it. So, compared to me, taking care of her family is inexpensive. All her kids, are in college, or have graduated in the last 2 years. She is in college, because i want her to be financially stable after i pass. And she is in her 40s, not her 20s. I'm not displeased
