If you repeatedly doubt yourself after conversations with a toxic or narcissistic person, like a narcissist, there's often a pattern at play.
You wanted to clarify something.
You wanted to say what hurt you.
You wanted to set a boundary.
And suddenly it's all about you. About your tone, your supposed sensitivity, your past, your guilt.
In this article, I'll show you how toxic relationship patterns can distort your perception. You'll learn how to recognize when a conversation is taking a turn for the worse, why you suddenly feel like you're the problem, and how to stay grounded with more clarity, dignity, and inner focus.
I'll introduce you to three concepts that can help:
1. The Reversal Triangle:
Denial, attack, role reversal.
2. The Problem Label:
When your legitimate concern is devalued by labeling you as the problem.
3. The Dignity Anchor:
Your inner anchor to clearly re-evaluate behavior, impact, boundaries, and protection.
When I refer to narcissism in this post, I mean people with pronounced narcissistic behavioral patterns and a damaging effect on others. Diagnoses belong in professional hands. For those affected, the most important questions are: What happens? What effect does it have? And what helps to regain clarity, security, and dignity?

This post does not replace counseling and is not intended for diagnosis. The goal is not to identify pathological narcissists, but rather to avoid unpleasant individuals and not be taken advantage of.
For the sake of simplicity, I will refer to women and men with pronounced narcissistic tendencies who disadvantage and hurt others as narcissists and other unpleasant people, mostly simply as unpleasant people.
