Is the Honda CB1000F burning oil? If you've been anywhere near the internet lately, you'll have heard the rumours. In this review, I tackle them head on right from the start, explaining where the story comes from (the issues Honda had with the Hornet) and confirming that, for anyone considering this bike, the problem has been resolved.
Once that's out of the way, it's time to get the bike out on the road and ride it.
And what a bike it is. I found it surprisingly difficult to compare to anything else, because the CB1000F stands out as something genuinely unique in the modern classic sector. It's faster than the Triumph Bonneville and better looking than the Kawasaki Z900 RS. For plenty of riders, it's the Goldilocks bike: not too much, not too little, just right.
To me, it sums up the Gen X rider perfectly. Distinguished and relaxed, but still happy to down the occasional shot and party like it's 1999.
