grab Liz, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. That's the plan.

Stay with my dog, he's 13, I'm not leaving him and I can't drag him around.

October 1987 I was a young child. We had no electricity for almost 3 weeks due to the hurricane in England. We were warm and had hot meals due to coal and wood fire and Rayburn. Zero help from council or government

Those of us with disabilities would have to be very sure that leaving is the best or only option for us.

I would lock the doors and open a bottle of red.

About 20 years ago I heard what sounded like a gun shot on on the housing estate where I live. I stayed indoors and kept out of sight. What did my neighbours do? They went outside onto their balconies to see what was going on when the deranged person who fired the shots could have still been out there. Imo, they were silly to do so as they put themselves in danger for the sake of curiosity. The phrase, "Curiosity killed the cat" springs to mind.

Batten down the hatches.
Fill every container that will hold water.
Send a simple text to family.
If explosion happened in your area consider putting a cross of sticky tape across each window (to reduce flying glass in case of near hit).
Make tea.

Bug in is best, otherwise you are an ill-equipped refugee on the road.
I had the house to myself today, I spent my day charging up my solar chargers, recharging batteries AA + AAA , putting up battery powered PIR lights in the Hallway, stairway, bathroom (no batteries in them, they are in my desk drawer ready to go). Sorted out more water, my Mrs uses flavoured water and usually bins the bottles, I have been collecting them before they get to the wheelie bin and storing them in the shed on the quiet, out of her way, so cleaned them with a little thin bleach and water and refilled them with clean tap water and also checked the off-grid cooking/water boiling+purification kit. All the basics are checked and ready to go, whether that be war or a serious power cut either by design (Gvmt) or malicious (Cyber hit, etc)

The 1st thing you need is to own your own pub in a Cumbrian valley, Fully stocked with supplies.
2nd thing is a shotgun with plentiful ammunition to fend off the zombies, thirdly ,a generator, fishing rod and lots of barbed wire, whiskey ,tonic water and gin.

If you stick googly eyes on things it makes you smile.
