As a marine combat veteran, I have a love/hate take when it comes to talking to the enemy, in most cases you learn that they are just like you which does not make it easier!

These guys really saw Hell on earth

Ah yes, a ice cold red bull on D-day

The movie “Longest Day” does a pretty good job of showcasing the point of view of both sides. It’s a must see for anyone who loves WW2 movies

My father got through Vietnam assuming he'd get killed. I'm sure many men storming the beach assumed the same.

My parents lived in Germany in the 70s. They met a man who had fought in the war and was captured by the Americans. He told them his rations were better there, including the detail about cigarettes and chocolate.

Apparently, the troupe was passing by the guy’s hometown on Christmas Eve. His American guard gave him permission to go find out if his family was alive, and to return when he found out. His family was elated to see him (it had been months since they’d heard from him and seemed sure he had died). When he returned to the US camp, the American soldier, after hearing the good news, took out some papers, stamped them, and declared the German soldier was free to go and was no longer a prisoner of the US Army. All those years later, he always held Americans in high esteem.

You want to think that the axis were all bad but really over half of them were all people forced to fight

The German Soldier was no different than the Allied Soldier. Both were fighting for their country and simply wanted to live long enough to get back home.

The allies sure brought a lot of German tanks and trucks on that beach (8:56)

Those men coming off the boats were tough as hell. I can’t imagine doing that shit myself and hope I never have to.

The last men that tried to save Europe

"Hitler's buzzsaw" was the nickname...come on

8:09 "Still waiting for reinforcements  in the Afterlife, that are never coming" = 😂 Gotta be one of the greatest lines I've seen in any video, ever 😳

It kinda ironic that the Germans thought a defensive wall would work when they skirted the French  defensive line..

"One second is a long time to be wrong.” That line stays with you forever.

Great narration and character art style! Really enjoyed watching this video.

From a D-Day movie I watched, can't remember the title, German soldier on the phone at Omaha Beach:  "Remember those 5000 ships you said the Allies don' t have?  Well, I'm looking at them!"  Then the naval bombardment begins.

There was a German Luftwaffle presence on D Day, they just had little impact. I know the British and Canadian beaches had German planes strafing them and even some dogfights in the sky, however most German planes that went out never came back. The idea was to attack and do as much damage as possible then retreat quickly as allied air superiority and naval flak fire was intense.

3:12 I love the airplanes without cockpit.. nice AI
