America seems to have a thing for triangles; specifically, triangles in which strange or unexplainable things happen. There’s the famed Bermuda Triangle in the Atlantic Ocean, where ships and planes seem to vanish without a trace. There’s also the Bennington Triangle in Vermont, where the same appears to happen to individuals who wander off out of sight for too long. Then, there’s the Bridgewater Triangle in Massachusetts, which some would argue is the most mysterious of all. Covering a two hundred square mile area between Rehoboth, Freetown, and Rockland, this is a place where self described cryptozoologist Loren Coleman says that “people vanish and creatures like giant snakes, Bigfoot, Thunderbirds, and phantom panthers are seen.” In his 1983 book Mysterious America, Coleman laid out a number of examples of these incidents, some dating as far back as the colonial period, while others were as recent as the years immediately preceding its publication. It was Coleman who coined the term “Bridgewater Triangle” all those years ago, and if the stories are to be believed, then the last four decades have only served to support his claims about this allegedly bizarre portion of New England. News articles from the 1990s speak of cult rituals and unsolved homicides in and around the Triangle itself, UFO researchers describe unexplained aerial phenomena, and YouTube videos tell of people who disappeared within the region...but is any of it really true? The beginning with “Americans seem to have a thing for triangles…” locked me in, the triangle puns got me interested

I'm less inclined to call it cynicism after your closing remarks. People get caught up in the spooky-scary-skeleton nature of these myths, but the line you draw with hard facts (or lack thereof, in this case) spins the wheel. It's too easy for passive viewers of these videos to regurgitate misinformation - speaking as someone who's been guilty of doing just that. I've watched the Lore Lodge slowly pivot from the unexplained to actually explaining, and it's really changed my perspective on the pastime of exploring myths. It's fun to watch these late at night and get spooked. But it's waaaay less fun to trivialize real historical suffering and expose one's own lack of critical thinking. Well done, as usual.

You know, just once I'd like to see people go missing in a polyhedron, the ratio of triangle disappearances is getting concerning.

As someone who lives in Bridgewater, getting the notification for this video made my entire year. Having read some of the comments I'm almost as excited for the triangle puns as I am for the rest of the content.

I burst out laughing at the Bigfoot of the reptiles. And I love how you had a hard time not laughing through your next two sentences. You are a joy to listen to.

You forgot about the Meth triangle in South Carolina, strange things happen there, but for other reasons.

Hey Aiden, I’m 7 years sober in a week. Spent 8 years in the 82nd 1st/504th and while I was a lowly 11B and didn’t do nearly as much as some of the other dudes I know, i admittedly struggle at times with mental health issues. Your videos have been an outstanding, educational, entertaining and informative distraction and I am eternally grateful for them

The triangle puns healed something in me

I live in what my family likes to call the "Mesa Circle," in Mesa, Arizona. We don't get a lot of rain to begin with, but when we do, storms have a strange way of... skirting around my neighborhood in a spot a mile or two in diameter. Sometimes we get storms, but other times everywhere else gets storms and we're in a strange dry spot. We've looked it up on weather radar multiple times, and it comes out looking like a circle of cloudlessness. I tend to think something about the local topography is responsible, but it's our little corner of the potentially, mildly, paranormal :P

(As far as I know, nothing else strange occurs within the circle. Just a lack of weather.)

I have lived in the Bridgewater triangle forty years. I’m a wicked local. I just started appreciating the history and visiting some of the stuff I always took for granted in the last four years.

For the last 6 years I've been reading a lot of nonfiction about the 1620 Pilgrims and the Wampanoags. It's a fascinating era and I've appreciated your videos on this subject.

I work within the Bridgewater Triangle, so this episode peaks my interest even harder than most.

Edit:
Every time Aiden mentions the Wampanoag, I'm reminded about how my grandmother, with her thick Rhode Island accent, would pronounce Wampanoag when I was growing up. "Whomp-a-nog"

@noragardner1629 1 year ago

Been living near that area of MA and doing stuff in and around bridgewater for the last 40 years and I’ve never seen anything weird, heard of anything particularly weird happening around there, or heard of any disappearances. Your Wampanoag history section of the video was good though 😊 keep up the good work!

Your cynicism and desire to share information accurately is appreciated! Love the fact you have the history segment of the region going again!

@chikitabowow 1 year ago

I really like that the history segments are back, native American history is fascinating but sadly not a lot of YouTubers or even documentary makers don't make a lot of content about it. So hearing it in conjunction with content like this makes me really happy

I've lived in this area 49 years....I've always explored the woods...never seen anything odd. Lots of deer, fox, fishers and 1 bear. Tons of snappers and a few non venomous normal size snacks. Lots of bobcat tracks. The Freetown state forest always seemed eerily quiet to me.

Please, listening to you tear apart people who haven't done their research and conclude that in fact nothing supernatural is going on is exactly what I hope for every time.

@spartanhawk7637 1 year ago

I like how the youtube note is about an entirely unrelated area.

The algorithm loves the channel name but unfortunately not channels that do the research and are willing to correct themselves. The history section is always enjoyable. Thank you for providing information not spin.
