Why does a set of Leica M6 cameras lack the usual serial numbers, instead being engraved with different years?

In 1999, to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Leica's predecessor, Leitz, in its optical history, Leica released a limited edition of 150 M6 commemorative sets. Each set was distinguished by the year of issue and included five different lens versions.

This time, let's unbox it together with Mr. Zhang, taking a look at the platinum body, snakeskin leather covering, walnut wood box, and the accompanying 50mm f/1.4 Summilux-M lens. We'll also discuss why this commemorative camera is rare and its significance in Leica's optical history.
