Deja vu! In 1974 and 1975 I was allowed to spend some weeks of summer school break in England. I do recognize some of the treats my lovely host mother Joan gave to me, and so all the nice memories of my very first visits to Britain. Still in love with Blighty!

Caramac, Old Jamaica were definitely my go to bars, my favourite was Pink Panther (strawberry chocolate bar) and Cabana a few years later. Who remembers TopDeck canned drinks? Lemonade Shandy, Lemonade Cider and my favourite Limeade & Lager. In the year 2000 I organised a school reunion for the middle school I was in during the mid 70's, I made it like a trip back in time, we had a school dinner that included chocolate sponge and chocolate custard, and I went back for seconds : )

You can get most of these sweets online or in smaller shops/indoor markets, a certain sweet maker doing the pineapple flavoured cube sweet, saw them in a supermarket today and was transported straight to my childhood

The opening scene in this video is of Angel Hill Bury St Edmunds Suffolk in the background covered in foliage is the Angel Hotel and the shop window that the women are looking into is still an independent and very upmarket ladies clothes boutique. I cannot believe that from just a few seconds of footage that I instantly recognised my stunning home town! ❤😊

One thing I rememeber from 1940s was when I went on my own to a ‘Sweet Shop’ buy some ‘Rowntrees Gumdrops’ without a food coupon 👀 6d = (2.1/2 new pence)

Back in the 60s here in Scotland we had Robertsons Lemonade. they closed down in the late 70s and no one has came anywhere near to Robertsons. I enjoyed a whisky with a dash of lemonade, and can`t get one anywhere so I changed my drink to Single Malt Whisky. Today food is NOT food anymore, whatever it is , it only keeps away the hunger. How I would love to be back in the 60s and 70s when food was the real thing.
