I have recently watched dozens of videos on miter shooting boards . You are the first I’ve seen that explains what each actually is for and the differences . I had planned to make the wrong style because the difference in intention were not explained . Thank you .

🙌💯of all the dozen or so miter shooting board videos I’ve seen on YouTube including some big names, YOU are the ONLY one to get this right. Thank you for this great video.

If you built your miter shooting board with the 90° triangle facing forward(point of the triangle facing your body when you plane) you could add backers on the edge of the central triangle - tailored to larger moldings. You make it so the lower plywood or mdf board is wider than the upper board on both sides so you can run your plane in both left and right sides.

Most informative description of shooting boards ever! Don’t forget how important it is that the plane iron is set perfectly perpendicular to the plane cheeks.

Thank you for this excellent vid. It lead me to search and found some miter jack indeed features 2 reference faces for inside and outside miters respectively.

Excellent demonstration on miter shooting boards and how to use them.

There is a lot of really valuable information in this video - thank you.  I will watch it a few times to pick up on a bit more each time!  I have the urge to make some mitered boxes, maybe even with hand-tool splines - for the smaller boxes.  Thank you!

Actually it all makes perfect sense what he is saying . words of wisdom my friend ,thank you .An EXCELLENT instructional video BTW.The ONLY one on you tube that properly explains shooting boards . Bravo.Bob.

awesome video with simple easy to follow explanations!!!

I m happy to listen at what you said about the 45 degrees thing at thé beginning. In fact, as long as the sum of thé angles is 90°, it s fine. This first jig is smart. I Hope that thé people searching for thé ultimate 45 degrees will ear that.

Excellent video Bob. Clearly explained and demonstrated. I haven’t seen anyone else talk about the traditional donkeys ear version which sorts the issues I’ve be struggling with the past couple of days. Many thanks.

You are the first that explain the limitations of common shooting boards. The miter one that you show seems a little complicated (get the right angle), but I'm going to try. Sorry my english, but I do not speak or write it very well. Greetings from Chile.

Okay I have seen a lot of videos and this is the first time I have seen technique on planing outside corners as well as miter frames. Thank you I learned something new.

This video was very enlightening and helped me avoid wasting my time. Thanks!

Reference FACE, reference EDGE...light bulbs just went off, thank You!!

I would love to plans for your shooting boards, especially the donkey’s ear shooting board.

Thanks, I just made your traditional Donkey ear shooting board out of some manufactured Bamboo and it works great!

Mind blown.  Shooting boards just got a lot more complicated.
