Most nuisance algae outbreaks are responses to parameter swings, not just nutrients.
Algae fills ecological gaps faster than corals can.
Stability determines which organisms dominate.
In mature systems, stability matters more than removal.

Chemiclean has always worked for me,  but I always got dinos right after. Dealing with cyano now and have tried to eradicate it naturally,  but it wasn't working out.  Started dosing  live phyto a week ago and it's knocking it out.

What if you have a reef mat….?

I used MB7 and clean for an insanely bad outbreak of hair algae and it took a while BUT it did work. Eventually, after about 4-6 weeks of the dosing ALL of the algae was gone and tank was spotless. It hasnt come back and its been about 1 year. I find that chemiclean works for cyano but eventually after a few mths the cyano returns.

Great channel.  I love when reefers show/explain their full experience with reef products and not just talking about what its supposed to do.  I found mb7 is great for clearing up cloudy water but did some wonky stuff to my nutrients the last go around I had.  I been reefing for 10 years at least now and my particular problem is cloudy water in my new tank that has been going on 8 months now (driving me crazy).  My experiment will be revisiting nopox along with no3 and po4 dosing.  My theory is I will get a nice beneficial bacteria going along with po4 gut loaded bacteria food for the coral.

I agree. I found that MB7 did not do anything for me. As a matter of fact, I feel my issues were resolved after stopping the use of it and the clean version. Thanks for the video.

Hey man did chemiclean actually clear green hair algae. I too have both GHA  and cyano. I'm currently using Red X but it's a slow worker you need to dose it for 6 days, currently no change to the cyano. The bottle also says it treats green algae but no change on that either. On top of that and before the use of Red X I've been carbon dosing along with MB7 to improve the bio filter to try to outcompete the algae

I agree that the MB made things worse.

I dose both clean and mb7  for more than 6 months and found that clean don't work really. I saw someone once say that mb clean is just for the live rock surfaces and many used it with razor so they were able to dislodge bubble algae more easily. MB7 is a good source of bacteria and I use it if I get dino as a competition bacteria against dino. I tend to trust MB7 more since it has been around for many years and has been verified by many reefers. I don't know anyone that dose MB7 regularly like they instruct to. They tend to dose it if they are starting a new tank or have clean out their media and afraid that they killed off some of their bacteria.
