Its amazing to think that without Tolkien, we would never have the entire High Fantasy genre. We wouldn't have Dungeons and Dragons. And I would never be in love with Fantasy as I have been all my life. Thank you Professor Tolkien, RIP Mellon! 💖

" If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world." Thorin.

When I get round to it I want to lay some flowers at Tolkiens grave. His grave should always have flowers on it!!

Rest in peace tim and greg hildebrandt!

Is the one dislike from Sauron?

This is why you don't trust so so friends. Thank you Tolkien

I am astonished that there are people who deeply dislike LotR!   I completely understand that not all people would love it, but how is it possible to deeply dislike it!  I just can’t get my mind around that!

"REVEL" could be intentional - some inscriptions use U and V interchangeably (likewise I and J). For example I've often seen "church" written "CHVRCH". It's a throwback to classical Latin, where U and V were different pronunciations of the same letter.

What an interesting man, the Professor!

"In a hole in the ground, there lived a hobbit."  - One wonders what happened to that exam paper. Did the student who got it back keep it? Is it still out there somewhere?

Would have been great if Graham McTavish had also hosted this one as he did the LOTR docs. How perfect would it have been if the future Dwalin actor himself had hosted a Hobbit documentary a decade before being in the films.

Raise a glass or pint of ale, beer, or whatever drink you have at hand and toast J.R.R. Tolkien with honor, gratitude and remember him well and may we keep his legacy as the hero he is and was in death as well as in our lifetimes. Keep imagination alive for without it fantasy writers and those of the ancient world would be like without water, our world needs fantasy writers like Tolkien and Lewis and Lloyd Alexander to give us hope peace and whatever else makes life worth living as God intended and does still. Long live the legacy of Tolkien and C.S Lewis and Lloyd Alexander!

the one guy who disliked this was an avengers fan

22:40   Is this part a Monty Python sketch or is this part a Monty Python sketch.

Thank you! Always great to have new things on Tolkien.

So good to see you upload again :) really hope you find the time and motivation to continue your LOTRO series!

✌ Thank you for the Video very much needed during these troubling times,  Sir Tolkien's voice alone seems to calm everything down for a time and makes me wish that we should all be sitting under a tree somewhere reading The Hobbit.  ✌
