As a young person I considered myself to be the best chipper on the planet. I'm sure I wasn't, but I had that much confidence every time I stood up to the ball. Then I got cancer, couldn't play for three years, and when I got back to the course, every bad chip became the norm - chunk, thin, blade. I've tried a hundred different methods, some success, but nothing sticks. I watched Dan reconnecting with Iona Stephen who he taught, used what he had her do, and have been so much better. Mostly it comes down to relaxing the muscles and simply swinging the club, eliminating the "hit." Some good rounds behind me, and honestly, I can't wait to get out and both practice and play, because now I want to chip and get back to being the best on the planet.

I have exactly the same problem as Ben.
Total loss of confidence around the green especially in competitions.
I watched the video yesterday and managed 5 out of 8 up and downs in today’s Stableford just by doing the low take away and soft grip.
Couldn’t of dreamed of that many before.
Thank you so much.Dan you’re a genius.

Man I can relate! Hit 14 greens and go low or miss green and make bogey or worse. 🤦🏻‍♂️ I’d miss a green by two yards and have incredible anxiety just walking up to the ball. I started implementing Dan’s 3 release system about a year ago. I practice chipping a lot and now feel much more confident around the greens but it’s taken me almost a year. Chipped in yesterday for first time in forever! Thanks Dan!

I am Ben through and through. Will take any club other than lofted wedge around the green. Been trying to implement all of Dans tips for weeks. Some practice sessions are very good but others not so.
Set up is obviously the issue and lack of chest rotations but it’s difficult without having someone tell u.
Trying to pull wedge every time now as no point fighting it otherwise it’ll never improve.
It’s a long painful process tho 🙈

Dan, you are awesome. I struggled with this for months. After watching your lesson, I went out and implemented your tips with great results and a new mental reset so that the prior triggers did not appear. Focusing on the sound, softer hands , and body rotation were better mechanics and a new brain pathway engineered for success. Thanks!

Dan is an unbelievable teacher- he is beyond that. His ability to transfer his knowledge to a student has no parallel. He breaks down a difficult skill into a manageable task that any golfer can accomplish. He instills confidence thru understanding the technique. Few teachers can do that. His Youtube videos are priceless.

Absolute genius, his book i highly recomend. its given me alot of confidence in short game (which i have always loved!) i know have an idea of what to do in a certain situation, simple, repeatable technique. Makes the margin of error so much wider which is what we all want. Hopefully, my handicap drops to singles this year

Totally understand this 4 hc guy - I'm 7 hc and have had the yips for 10+ yrs. If I hit the greens I'm good, but if I miss them I tend to miss them by 1-5 yards only, then I'm short sided every time and just hope to get on the green. It's a deep dark hole and so I'm looking forward to "rewiring" my brain!! LOL

It’s such a maddening game .. during a week a day of golf you can go from the highest highs to deepest lows .. it’s just so mentally hard if you have part of you game that weakens.. I try so hard to feel happy and relaxed and not stressed about outcome focus on process not outcome .. 7HC .. if I can continue to fix mental yips esp in chipping I know I can become scratch golfer as I throw away so many shots esp short game ..

I've been using Dan's chipping techniques for a few months with wonderful success. Recently, in a scramble format, I had three 20 yard chips for an Eagle. I made one and the other two were less than 2" away from rolling in.

100th comment. Dan Grieve has got to be the best short game instructor I've ever seen. I had stopped watching youtube instructional videos due to the conflicting information being put out, but Dan's videos are absolutely top notch.
