With three coats of undercoat applied directly onto the four coats of primer, in this video, which forms the fifth part of a series, John Barnard sets out to share some of the tips used by professional boat painters for getting the best possible results when attempting a full narrowboat repaint. Here, John shows us how to go about machining the undercoat to get the quality of finish needed for applying the final three coats of gloss.
