Started the video ready to be mad, went to the comments, though you were off-base, went back to watch the video past the first minute and a half, and now I'm subscribed. People on the internet need to slow down. It is very clear that none of the negative comments are from people who watched the video. Keep up the good work and I'm eager to see what else ya got.

The Little German Boy looked like he saw Berlin falling.

Famous pro Italian YouTuber shares his opinion on what he calls the “Japanese question”

Noticed the same thing with gurkhas, holding a 6ft bren gun whilst being comically small

I've read a lot of books regarding the Australians fighting the Japanese in WWII and many first hand accounts stated that although they expect IJA soldiers to be small, many if not most were easily in the 6ft height range.

Frustratingly, this kit is also somewhat incorrect. Both the IJN and the IJA used the same helmet; the Type 90, only with the front insignia being different (a star for the army, an anchor with cherry blossom for the navy). In the kit however, the IJA heads are equipped with ficticious helmets that look like a steel version of the IJA tropical pith helmet, of which you get one per head sprue.
The helmets labeled "SNLF" (special naval landing force) are actually IJA helmets since they feature a star on the front, meaning that if you want to build Japanese Marines they're going to have the wrong helmet insignia, and if you build your army units with the "IJA" heads they'll look ahistorical. I simply used the SNLF heads for my army units, and I'll have to shave the star off for my marines.

Regardless; I think this kit is loads better than the 2013 version in many respects, and I doubt most people care as much as I do about accuracy.
(Edit: one tropical pith helmet per head sprue, not one per kit as I previously stated)

I will always love your honesty about every kit and every company. Also I’ll always love this kitbashing videos, I always look forward to them and I hope you never run out of ideas!

Combining the old Japanese sprue with the new gives you more options.

2 things about this kit: it has a wealth of accessories. I used a lot of the gas mask, ration bags and foliage camo for 40K Feudal Guard (AoS Steelhelms kitbashed with 40K Cadians and bitz). They add nice visual interest while distancing them a bit from the 40K "skulls on top of skulls" aesthetic. And the other thing is: yep, sadly the bodies are only really fit for teenagers when put alongside other bigger scaled guys. That's not really an issue for me though, as they make good porters, couriers or other civilian NPCs in Necromunda. It's a great kit IMO, just maybe not for its intended game system!

I've just found your channel and although I'm more of a turnip 28/trench crusade player I love the creativity you use and the restrictions to historical accuracy make all your conversions really cool! You've convinced me to pick up a box of Falshmyagur (or however it's spelt) to make a cool kit bashed warband....

All of your videos are amazing and inspiring ! Thank you !

I was honestly surprised with how annoyed people were with your last video. I'm at least here to see your creativity, not my idea of what your creativity should be!

Thanks for all the inspiration while doing my own BA kitbashing. Edit: That German kid-bash at the end looks really terrified 👍🏼

It's crazy to me that our grandfathers fought and died, some brutally tortured to protect the world from those evil people. And now a few generations later we play with our little plastic soldiers and worry about "racist depictions". I wonder how worried about it we would be if we had been the ones naked in those jungle POW camps suffering from dysentery and dehydration. Or if we had lived in one of the many villages destroyed and families ravaged by the IJA. If our little plastic men were a generic or fictional faction, then yes, I can agree with positive and fair representation. But in this case I frankly do not care if the Japanese soldiers are modeled with a pan face or buck teeth given the historical context. Nobody complains if SS soldiers are modeled as too ugly or mean looking (I hope). I am not trying to diss you here Scale History, I like your videos and your thoughts in this one provoked some thinking on my end that I wanted to express.

You need to get a head start on the "Last Levy" army so that Warlord can come out with a full plastic range...  you could probably even make Captain K using an Italian helmet & russian cape 👀

I’ve successfully kitbashed a Wargames Atlantic Italian body into a Japanese soldier. He looks taller but mostly that’s the puddle base and upright pose compared to the old hunched over Japanese sculpts from the older Warlord Games kit. Maybe give that a try.

I used the old kit for my last levy kitbashes

You could buy the samurai set

Asian : hey were not small!? were the same height!!

my biggest problem with the height on those resin officers is that the puddle base is too thick. I think that plays a lot into why it stands way taller than the generic sprues. you could also always plump up the base too to help hide some of that height difference.
