How wonderful to have three doctors who refuse to be drug dealers! Not enough of you guys around.

1. Avoid sugar and processed food 2. Exercise: walking and strength training are good 3. Natural supplement lower inflammation: turmeric, red yeast rice, berberine, fish oil, vitamin D, flax seed, green tea extract 4. Lower stress to reduce cortisol: meditation, socializing, exercise, time in nature 5. Sleep: melatonin, magnesium glycinate, 7 hours is the best, cool room, no alcohol before bed 6. Time restricted eating time: intermittent fasting

For me as a senior, I just watch what I eat & don't drink alcohol, don't smoke , make myself busy through volunteer work, and I cook my own meals.

Here's what helps me best with stress. Quiet time with no interruptions and good solid prayer to my Lord and my God...it works & brings me peace!

My total value of Cholesterol was 304 triglycerides were slightly elevated. So I started intermittent fasting 16 hour fasting 8 hour eating window. Then started 18/6. done several 24 hour fasts 36 hour fasts and 48 hour fasts. Im 62 yrs old started at 235- now 170 my ideal weight. It was easy to do. I start my morning off with water, then black organic medium roast coffee. Then during my eating window period I start with eggs ,4-5 pasture raised eggs that's 24-30 grams of protein. I add a cup of aged parmesan cheese by reganno that's 38 grams of protein.1 cup of Greek yogurt plain and I add organic frozen blueberries to it that's 17 grams of protein per cup. 1 avocado 🥑 gets double the potassium of a banana which is a sugar bomb. Also 2.8 grams of protein. I add sea salt to it along with organic extra virgin olive oil. The rest of my protein I get in Meats . NY Strip Steak, Ribeye, Chicken breast , Chicken thighs. Lamb chops, Ground beef grass fed 85/15 content and wild caught salmon.. I drink pellegrino water with minerals and Natural spring water.. I don't drink alcohol. For a sweet I eat dark Chocolate 90% content. I walk daily and just started strength training.. I feel great now

Good discussion!!! What helps me with stress is listening to some great Christian praise music!!! It keeps my mind and heart on the Lord Jesus Christ!!! Awsome!!!!

My Doc put me on Statins without even doing a blood test to check my LDL/HDL Lipids... I declined!!!

My cardiologist wanted 70 or lower.  They all keep changing the"standard" numbers for BP, Chol, sugar. I'm tired of it.  Seems like they're making it so they can order more meds

According to new studies that are out, they found that those who had higher cholesterol were living longer.  Why lower it?  My mom has had high cholesterol all her life and she is 94 and still without a walker and thinks better than most.  I have had high cholesterol all my life (260 range) but don't take anything for it.  I just eat healthy and stay away from carbs and sugar.  I am also very healthy

I hope many more doctors join these 3 and start speaking out about this important information and about overmedicating

I cancelled a prescription for a statin. I made a decision that I was not going to take it. All I hear is that I must be watching YouTube. My answer is,,yes ,I am watching YouTube but I’m quite picky with who I watch.

Feed your body garbage and it is going to fight back against you eventually, one way or the other.

Im a living correlation between high stress and cortisol levels raising cholesterol. I had a total cholesterol 220 and Dr prescribed statins. I did not take them. Then number went down without a diet change and what changed was i ended a bad stressful relationship. After break up, a few months later on follow up, my labs came back 192. Dr thought the statins were working but i did not say i wasnt taking them. I was confused how this could be possible until i read about how stress affects your body. Also my A1c went down 5.9 to 5.7. No weight lost or diet change. Now im doing great - chol 157 & a1c 5.2 through plant diet, cardio and weight training and have mastered living alone.

I know a doctor who will no longer prescribe statin drugs, because he believes they have a role in Alzheimer’s development.  I have high cholesterol, but I’m really healthy and I refuse to take any of that medication to lower cholesterol. It just starves your brain.

I am 62 years old and walk 7-9 miles a day for my job. It’s important to me to have a job where I can move move and has been most of my life. I’ve had 2 sit down jobs in my entire life and I lasted 6 months or less. I had my annual physical last week and my labs came back yesterday. Everything was in the normal range. 😅
I have a sweet tooth so I’m working on that.
