A stop tap is one of the main important things in your house and having access could prevent yourself from damage. Knowing and having access means that you can shut the water down if there is ever a problem quickly.

My customers was in behind the washing machine which they were unable to pull in and out and all the pipes is hidden so you can’t monitor the state and condition of the pipes.

The plan is to move their stock up from behind the washing machine into the cupboard next door via a hatch which I have cut into the side of the unit. Stop tap itself is in between the unit and the washing machine and doing anything on the pipework is hard because it’s completely hidden.

First thing to do is to open up the back of the unit for the access and then we could shut the water off and start cutting out the old stock tap and the pipework to adapt onto. Once the Earth clamp was moved, I could put my pipe sliced to the pipe and slice through while catching all the water inside my foldable tub from Derblaue. Cleaning up the old pipe was easily done with the techers pipe cleaners and I could start to pipe up for the new lever valve.

I Fitted the washing machine tap in the same position so all the pipes were in the same place and then a drain point after the stop tap. There was a hot pipe running above which was dead legged so I cut that back as far as possible.

I took steps to try and increase the flow rate as much as possible bending the copper pipe and also the new valve which is a lever is for flow and can be shut off a lot easier.

The original connection to the old pipe I was happy to start with, but looking back I wasn’t 100% on which way all the parts went together so I went ahead used my initiative and replaced it with a new fitting. This gives me peace of mind that everything is done new and his best as I could.

Hopefully you found this video interesting or entertaining plenty of pipework soldering and pipe bending to get the job done if you did please give the video a like and hopefully you know what’s involved just to move a stop up to a new location. if you’re new to the channel please consider subscribing and I’ll see you on the next one
