Corrections and further reading.

1. Not a correction. Dissection has released three albums. When I stated "Dissection released two albums 1993, 1995...etc" I am specifically referring to THIS time period, a time period BEFORE Jon went to prison. This is the period when Dissection had the greatest influence on Erik and Watain. I assumed people would understand the context here. I later state "Their first two albums," which I assumed would be enough to indicate they did indeed release more than two records. But here I am having to explain context.

2. Norwegian Grammy Winners.  Sorry I messed up BIG here! SORRY NORWAY. There have been more than two Black metal groups to win a Norwegian Grammy. Other winners include:
i. Dimmu Borgir - Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia - Best Metal Album 2001. Death Cult Armageddon - Best Metal Album 2003. "The Serpentine Offering" (Best music video 2008)
ii. Enslaved (Spellemannpriset för metal (2004), Spellemannpriset för metal (2006), Spellemannpriset för metal (2008), Spellemannpriset för metal (2010), Spellemannpriset för metal (2017))
iii. Kampfar (Profan / Best Metal Album 2015, Best Album / Ingen Skånsel 2025)
iv. DJEVEL (Best Metal album - Tanker Som Rir Natten 2021)
v. Koldbrann (Spellemannpriset för Metal 2024)
vi. Satyricon (Volcano (Best Metal album 2002))
Sorry again Norway, this is a GLARING error on my part. I am but a one man band here and I will make mistakes but this was a doozy.

Any other corrections, feel free to drop them here!

For those who stopped buying physical music albums, I have to say that the booklet of the album "Lawless Darkness" is a masterpiece in itself, besides the excellent music. I have a fond memory of drinking whisky, and getting to the final song of the album, already half-high, in a darkened room (except for the candles) and reading the booklet at the same time.

F**k, this was not only a massive surprise but a great documentary piece!!! Amazing, mate!

“mildly blasphemous” had me laughing

“How did Watain manage to attain…” 😂. Funny stuff!

I love what you said at the end in regards to religious wars.

Dissection released 3 studio albums. Their final record 'Reinkaos' was released on Walpurgis night 2006. It is essentially a concept album based on the 'Libre Azerate', the main religious text of MLO/TotBL. Lyrically and themeatically it serves as the spiritual blueprint for everything Watain did afterwards. Erik even does backing vocals on "God of Forbidden Light" and worked on the album's layout. It polarised the fanbase initially, due to its streamlined songs, stripped-down sound and apparent shift in musical direction. But has since found its audience amongst those who can appreciate its sheer focused intent and power. Reinkaos is more than a mere concept album, it's a sonic sigil, and like all good sigils; the intent must be presented in its simplest possible form.

Watain and Dissection shared stages, ideologies and even members (Set and Erik both played in Dissection in its final years) The connection between the two bands is profound and cannot be understated. Still, excellent Doc and excellent work, good sir!

@1:58 "and everyones favorite, Ghost"

HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAA
totally caught me off guard. i laughed so hard i got tears in my eyes...

Saw them in San Diego on the Lawless Darkness tour. They played a very small club with a capacity of 200.  It was the hottest, worst smelling room I've ever been in. Erik hung out and talked with us outside before they went on. Very memorable show.

i worked the Rebirth of Dissection tour with Watain in 2004 on the road crew. It was fucking  mental, but Watain's stage attire was fucking manky. It funking reeked. That shit buried in pigs blood for 9 months was just fucking nasty.

The highlight tho at the end of the night was both bands playing Elisabeth Bathory. Fucking awesome. Memories made with those guys!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

Rabid deaths curse is still my favorite album of theirs

Awesome video. Love how in depth you go with these bands. Gonna give Watain a spin 🤘🏼

Many thanks. Great doc-ry, love this music, respect Eriks way

Side Comment: "Sympathy for the 😈" is a Great Song.

Omg thank you for this I’m going to watch all ur videos

Cool band - its not often that an outfit's peak comes several albums in, but theyve done pretty well since Lawless Darkness.

wow, what a wild story. i really appreciate your professionalism. as an occult practitioner, i see no reason to not doubt the band's sincerity in their beliefs.

Without getting into details and so on but I know a person that like 10-15 years ago due to reasons outside of their control came in close contact with intoxicated members of Watain on a semi-regular basis and from what I've heard, they are absolutely the real deal. Truly awful people.

I tried to get back to your comment, “what should I cover next?”.  I couldn’t.  Cover the NC metal core scene that gave birth to Prayer for Cleansing, From Here On, Undying, Bloodjinn, Glass Casket, and Between the Buried and Me (whose first two albums were GOLD!)…they obviously went a little too weird.  Tribunal Records, etc…

I would love to see you dig in to what bright me to the scene.  NC pioneered a sound that is coming back today

Another cracking video. This could easily be a two-parter, I feel like 'The Wild Hunt' was the start of a new era that bridged the gap between their older and newer sound.
