I started art almost two years ago, won't give my exact age but also out of college and man, I am so thankful that I did not draw before that. I didn't draw as a kid even so I started from actually 0. But its meant that I have way less inbuilt bad habits, don't have any emotional baggage around art, and have been able to approach my learning in a structured, deliberate way that has paid massive dividends. Personally I found studying cosplays as my life drawing practice to be the most fun and effective way for me to learn the human body.

If you're reading this and also started "late" PLEASE understand that, although kids have endless drive and don't care if their art sucks which helps a lot, adults can be far more deliberate in their learning and progress way faster. Besides, adults are still capable of just drawing and not caring if it sucks, just gotta do it. God bless and yeah, thank you for speaking on this.

there will never be a perfect time to get started or to continue. it will always be in the past, but the best you can do is keep going. so that eventually you can look back and see that it was the perfect time

Funny thing, A.I (Art Imitation) was actually the reason i started drawing. I thought "No matter how terrible my art is, it will always be better, more meaningful than anything of the AI Slop.

- copy the art which made by the artist u enjoy
- slowly finding your style and learning more things
- keep doing the reference but with ur art style
- try on drawing your own art with js ur imagination
time flies, and boom, u now can draw good

For recovering perfectionists - The most important thing is to enjoy the process of practicing and making BAD ART. Like, on purpose, make something terrible that you would never want to show anyone, and try to feel accomplished that you succeeded! Once your brain does its neuroplasticity thing and you can LEARN to FEEL the sense of acomplishment every time you work on something, THEN you can look at improving the artwork itself.

And if you start to feel like a failure again? Move the goalposts back to something you CAN do. Or expand the timeframe you set for it. Or change it completely! Goals are just IDEAS. YOU are a PERSON, and you matter so much more than something that's just made up.

The last time I actually drew was when I was in college when I was 20, I'm 37 now and I had all these fears when I thought about getting back into drawing but now I'm not letting that hold me down, I'm picking up my pencil and and going to practice

I am 38 years old and and for this year I'm challenging myself with drawing every day. And today after 11 days I am mastering the cube in 3d space and startig to see rotating cubes on my inner eye😅 i love it, I am seeing progress❤.

The timing of this video is SO DAMN INSANE. I've been feeling unmotivated to start art nowadays because it's either that I'm too late or too old for art. Scrolling through tiktok and instagram while seeing dozens of talented young artists (in the ripe age of 13-14 btw 😭) made me even more compelled to quit, plus the fact that I have less free time now that I'm older made me feel like drawing was just a waste of time. But even so, this video has inspired me in so many ways to not give up and begin regardless of starting late or being very busy with my studies.

I am 59, and I was a professional artist in my 20's . But stopped due to illness and my 3 kids became my priority. Now I'm relearning and going with a different direction with my art. So now I'm learning digital art on my ipad and learning so much from YouTubers like you.
