Quick tip for you, while you’re waiting to get set up with curtains: You can get large 2.4m sheets of corrugated PVC floor covering for just a few quid a piece in B&Q and most decent builders providers. It’s usually black, only 2-3mm thick, and it’s flexible and easy to cut with scissors, but it’s rigid enough that it works really well for making custom shaped  blackout window covers.
I was dealing with curtains inside a small vehicle before, but found they took a lot of the usable space inside away, and were either expensive or not a good enough fit for the specific windows. With this stuff you can easily make a set of pop-in/out window covers, and the rubber seal around the window glass will hold them in place perfectly. Ideal for converting a day van to camp in if you don’t want to put up permanent window covers or curtain rails. Also they’re quite stealthy and discreet looking in darkness, more so than curtains.
If you’ve any trouble cutting them to shape, make a template of the window out of a large sheet of tin foil first, then just transfer that shape over to the PVC sheet and cut.

Keep the friction on the doors. If you wax the runners the doors will open under braking or climbing steep hills

I'm loving this build, even though the toilet direction abuses my sensibilities, lol. 😂
The sliding doors can be corrected simply by rotating the middle doors so that the holes are accessed at the inner (shared) wall.
I absolutely love watching makers creating things I could never do.  I'm logical and creative, and i've designed my own van, but brought in outside builders.  Because of that, I especially love seeing people doing the work themselves.  I appreciate all you've shared. 😊 Lauren - Florida 😊

Sliding cupboard doors are the future. I watched loads of van build videos, when it came to building my upper cupboards, building doors with hinges and hydrolic stays just seemed like hard work and time consuming, I went the sliding door way using mdf for the door fronts, vinyl wrapped as easy as and they still look good 18 month later

Simple solution for your cupboard doors with the finger holes on the wrong side. Swap the left and right back doors around (so put the left in the right cupboard and right in the left. Simples!

Great use of the space. That gas flame will be very close to the carpet though! You could hinge another board inside to extend it further.

I'm loving the cabinet builds. The contrasting blue against the varnised wood looks great. I'd use the ultra thin drawer as a cultery/every day essentials drawer... To reduce noise as well as making it look smart, if you have the patience, I'd pop a foam liner in it and cut around each utensil so everything would have it's place.

I've been putting off doing the doors on my kitchen unit. Not that I'd necessarily need to access the unit when the bed is out, which opening doors would stop that. I'm now going to do sliding doors anyway because of this, and it's a bit easier than messing about with hinges etc too. The flip out extension is a great idea too. I can't give you credit for that though, that's the baby changing designers idea 😂

Shaun as I watch you I feel like a proud parent 😂 I’ve watched you grow and learn over the years ❤❤❤ great job xx

Hi Shaun,

I've watched every one of your videos from start to finish. I'm from Poland. I built my own camper van based on a Mercedes Vito 638 so I could travel with my wife and son, but you inspired me to start my own YouTube channel and share my solo adventures.

I'm truly fascinated by the way you edit your videos, and I'd love to follow in your footsteps. I'm still a complete beginner, so it'll probably take me a long time to even come close to your level—but I have a goal, and I'm determined to keep improving.

I still look forward to every new video you upload, and I just wanted to send you my warmest greetings. Keep up the amazing work!

Love the garage, building would be so much easier, if I had something like that to work out off.

The flip out space is a good idea, but you know that one of the drawers could be turned into that?
So instead of a drawer, it was 2 plates hinged together, so when you pull it out, you could flip it over, to get double the size.

Note the finger holes on the doors should each be on the outside edge (lateral) of each door (not all on the left or right) so there is open space behind each hole. Also, make sure all doors & drawers are latched to prevent a cargo breakthrough in the event of a traffic accident. A 2 gal jug of water or even a wooden cutting board flying around the van that was going 35 to 70 mph can trash the interior, you & your passengers. Sure not likely to happen but if it does, are you prepared to accept the consequences (same as seatbelt logic). Safety first (then you can relax). 💖🚐

You need to flip one of your doors over each side so you can get your fingers in and a ball catch in your drawer

Lovely but impossible for those not carpenters and with limited income. I am making a similar lay out but using metal shelving, mainly 12 x 24 inches. I can have the supports at different levels, keeping the shelves level.
I am thinking of using aluminium sheeting as doors/desk top, connecting everything together with zip ties and for the desk part some sort of chain, maybe that can hook into the shelf above.  I am 75, female, so have to find easy practical methods.

Nice lap Steve, I almost expected Misha to pass you in a gt3rs! You were flying and nice an smooth 👌

I like micro campervans because i see them as a tent on wheels. If you think about what you can fit in a tent or carry in a rucksack then micro campervans or carcampers seem huge!

The film is BIG… 👍👍👍🤣

Windows. If not curtain, then maybe those ikea blinds and use cable conduit on either side to keep it in line.

I think I'd have been tempted to use a self contained portable sink unit. Like the Boxio system.
