You are right about the "killing your idols part". When he talked about the lyrics, he talked about putting people (actors, musicians, etc) on a pedestal and tearing them down of they make perfectly human mistakes.

It's actually RAD RAP in the lyrics. He knew he's doing a great rapping, had no doubts about it. And he was so damn right all the time!! Even when no one accepted his innovations bc he was so much ahead of all others in genre blended rock music!!
I'm not finished yet I just wanted to put on this remark. I love your reaction by far.

Great reaction! The trilogy only gets better from here. Can't wait to see your reaction.
Greetings from Germany

This song is about when Ronnie was getting more famous and he was heavy on the drugs and he wasn't ready to change. The lady in silver represents the silver spoon and the black stuff his drug of choice, black tar heroine. This song is good but I like the other 2 more, Losing my life and Drugs are the next ones. Looking forward to it.

I don't think it was so much that people thought he was a bad rapper.  More that he rose to fame in a pretty niche market and when he went against type, some of the fans had no idea what to do with it, lol.  (He wrote a song for that, by the way----Fair Weather Fans)  They just didn't want to see the genre they love "tainted".  There was a reaction I watched on a metal channel where the guy admitted it sounded really good but still griped about Ronnie putting rap into metal while he and others worked so hard to keep metal "pure."

It's been that way forever----metalheads who think all other music sucks, guys immersed in rap who think metal music is just screaming with no meaning, those into indie who see all other artists as bourgeois sell-outs pumping out bland, commercial swill.

All I know is I've been watching these reactions for years now and he keeps making all sorts of new fans from all walks of life and musical preference backgrounds to join the core group who've always been there and love everything he does.  He's expanding peoples' musical experiences and tastes.  And laughing all the way to the bank.

This song would fall into Nu Metal. Started in the Mid-1990s, Nu metal (sometimes stylized as nü-metal) is a subgenre of alternative metal that combines elements of heavy metal music with elements of other music genres such as hip hop, alternative rock, funk, industrial, and grunge. Nu metal rarely features guitar solos or other displays of musical technique; the genre is heavily syncopated and based on guitar riffs. Many nu metal guitarists use seven-string guitars that are down-tuned to produce a heavier sound. DJs are occasionally featured in nu metal to provide instrumentation such as sampling, turntable scratching and electronic background music. Vocal styles in nu metal include singing, rapping, screaming and growling. Nu metal is one of the key genres of the new wave of American heavy metal....

Drugs is the 3rd. Cory Taylor has a bit in it ❤️‍🔥🤘🏼
