Totally depends on what I’m doing/where I’m hunting. These are 2 very different bullets for very different applications. If I’m bush wacking in grizzly country, give me the partition all day long, especially for shooting larger big boned animals. If I’m shooting pronghorn in windy Wyoming at long range I want the Eldx with a way better ballistic coefficient. Kind of apples and oranges, both have their place.

Shoot the partition and don't look back. It's been working for  60 years.

You nailed it at the end. Partition for close range high impact shot and the ELD-X for the long range stuff. If I had to stick with one bullet it's the Partition hands down. If I'm on the hunt of a lifetime that might include 300 yard + shots I'll carry both. Keep the Nosler in the chamber. You can always take your time on a long shot to reload the ELD-X.

When you get the deviation to single digits,  you have found the load.

Thank you. Even with a much older technology the Partition still provides solid, consistent performance in the field. I have used ELDX in 7mm Mag on whitetail and my daughter used an ELDX in 300 WM for a young cow elk. Both clearly expanded well and were effective. I have used partion on deer in the past. It too, was very effective and provided large wound channels and good blood. Both are great options. The ELDX is noticably more accurate in my rifles.

Love your garage AND THAT OLD SCHOOL JEEP TRUCK! Great content sir! Keep up the great work!

I have a 300 grain Nosler partition I dug out of the bricket on a MASSIVE MASSIVE mule buck, I was aiming for the back of his head, he jumped, I hit the top of his ass. The bullet went in blew the pelvis apart, (separated the muscle groups, not much damage). Went down the tenderloin, through 1 lung, and buried itself in the brisket.

I ate the tenderloin with the 5/8" hole in the middle that night.

Perfect mushroom, and 98%+ weight retention. (It went through approximately 4' of old tough mountain buck). -- they are not cheap, but, when you want your animal to die. Use a partition.

Thank you for this video. The entire process boils down to two words: empty cup.

Partitions are hand down the best hunting bullet ever made out 500 yards. Every rifle shoots differently but especially reloaded is the way to go. 99.5 percent of hunters have zero business shooting any animal past that and yes I can shoot steel out to 1500 and I love doing it but not past 500 with a live animal.

The eldx is used a lot here in New Zealand as our game is relatively soft skinned. They still punch well through shoulder blades and kill well. They are accurate, im sure there’s better in some cases but from the smallest goat
To our biggest deer they do the biz

Love the work you putting in keep it up!!

Great content! Agree with the conclusions. Hornady SST has always been a consistent performer for me on whitetails.

I am using 162g eldx in my tikka 7rem mag, killed 3 animals with it, 2 were perfect heart shots, went maybe 10 yards, down, 1 was facing away but still room for a shot, i took it, it hits the back ribs and literally made a 7,8 inch entry hole, it didn’t not made it through, but it was drt, so far happy with them

Cool J10!!!

The joy of handloading you can make the ammo you want or need for the situation.

I will stick to the Partition. I limit my shots to 300yds on deer and 400 yds on hogs. I have hunted both since the late seventies and went to the partitions in the late eighties or very early nineties and haven’t had any disappointments as long as I did my part. I live in North Texas and we have a mix of dense and open terrain. I have hunted with many other hunters than talk about how they have killed several animals in excess of 600 yds but for some reason or other they always miss when I am around.
I guess I am a jinx.

The eldx is essentially a tough match bullet. The Partition is one of toughest hunting bullets ever.  At reasonable distances, the nosler is the hunters choice. Agreed

My 6.5CM eats ELD-Ms in similar fashion. If I ever choose to drop to a 100gr bullet in that rifle the Partition is my first choice.

Excellent three part video. Thank you. I would have liked the bullets fired into the water jugs at a minimum of 100 yds. which might be a more possible  hunting range. All in all a great video, thank you for taking the time and effort to share with others !

Where I live here in western Canada there is a reason why there are rows and rows of Hornady ELDX ammo on the shelves. Especially 270. But in the spring of this year 2023 Bass Pro got in some Fed 270 150gr Nos Part, I think about 20 boxes or so. They were all gone in 2 days.
