Iran is showcasing a new generation of domestically developed air-defence systems, sending a message about its growing military capabilities and asymmetric warfare strategy. Tehran claims its low-cost defensive weapons have successfully intercepted and destroyed aircraft worth millions of dollars, highlighting its push to counter expensive Western military technology with indigenous alternatives.

At a Sacred Defense Week military exhibition, IRGC Aerospace Force adviser Brigadier General Ali Belali revealed how Iran is developing missiles based on battlefield requirements. He specifically pointed to the Persian Gulf missile, designed to strike moving targets at distances of 400 to 500 kilometres using an onboard optical camera to lock onto and track its target.
