In this video I am going to directly compare two of the best EQ's the industry has to offer. Both the Buzz REQ 2.2 and Maselec MEA-2 are 4 band parametric EQ's with gain, frequency and Q controls.

The Buzz sounds more sophisticated but at the same time more boring. Maselec MEA2 is definitely the EQ I would choose 🤘🏾😁

Buzz low end sounds like a wider bell. Also less defined, but definitely bigger. The stereo field seems to narrow somewhat when changing to the Buzz vs the MEA, and it sounds a little veiled up top. Depends what you're looking for the eq to do in your chain I guess, but as a MEA owner I'm not planning on making any changes.

There’s a sorta padded softness with perfect clarity and balance in the Maselec, which points out the opposite, a sharp sorta loudness to me, in the BUZZ. Both are amazing. love the buzz features.

Thank you !! i live very far away where we dont get to demo these 🙌🏽

That buzz low end just hit different. Very nice. Overall it also sounds more musical and dimensional making the Maselec sound more clinical during the A/B. I cant afford either but if I could it would be the Buzz.

Thank you for the test!

The Masalec is my dream EQ

All are great. But i find MEA2 more define, more precise.

I wonder how the Stam 432d eq stands up to these at half price ?🇦🇺

To me, the Buzz just sounds cleaner and maybe has lower self noise/distortion? Both are obviously incredible pieces of kit. The Buzz seems to take the prize though.

They're pretty darn close!

Hi, this unit is the version with LundahL o B40, thanks

My bias as a Kiwi is the Buzz REQ and the added features (being able to bypass each band especially). But in saying that it was very hard to pick where at times I thought the MEA was sweeter then others the REQ. Just two amazing and really good mastering EQ's.

I prefer the buzz. The buzz seems to make audio pop forward out of the speakers more than the Maselec, which I prefer. The Maselec sounds wider, which I don’t like. The Buzz makes me think of the word “sparkly”, because the top end sounds like it’s dancing around, again which I prefer. The Maselec is more subtle, smooth and clean to my ear. I prefer a little bit of excitement, without messing up overall frequency balance, which is exactly what the Buzz seems to do for me. That’s my dream EQ for sure 👍 Thanks Paul

Maselec sounds exciting and alive, yeah ... :))

I was surprised to hear the MEA-2 had more of that polished record sheen to the sound, after always hearing how transparent it was. I thought the Buzz won with the low end punch, but otherwise I preferred the sound and width of the Maselec.

Yes. The Buzz sounds the best. Without a doubt. This video made me change my mind. I want one extra equalizer besides my SPL Passeq. I was thinking to buy a 3 grand equalizer. But I will save some more money now😊
