one little tip from someone who concretes pipes into the ground the same way, put a plastic cap on the top and then drill a small 1/8th inch hole about an inch above the ground on both sides to allow any water that collects to drain out the pipe otherwise it will rust form the inside out. also get some cold galvanising spray once you have drilled them.

I built a 2 elements delta loop for the 15 m band, fed the coax to the gama match, outstanding performance. 😊

I have used Delta-Loops for nearly 50 years, and they are outstanding!

Doug DeMaw wrote a QST article called (I believe ) “The Delta-Loop at Low Height”, whereby he used a 1/4 on 40m of 75-Ohm CATV coax; this allows you to have a coaxial fed antenna that is essentially flat across the whole 40m band with NO tuner; you can do this same trick on any band!

Remove that, and hook balanced line to it, and you have a multi-band antenna from the base-frequency.
Change the feed point position, and you control the radiation angle; and it REALLY works!

Delta-Loops are much more quiet, and reject a lot of close-in noise.
I absolutely love Delta-Loops! ❤
Please try one!

Great video. It was awesome to hear both the EFHW and the Delta Loop. 73 from Paris, France.

Love these kinds of antennas. Having less noise is always welcome.

I've just got back into radio after a 30 year absence and I've often thought about putting up a Delta Loop and now I'm convinced to give it a go Thanks for posting and doing a great side by side comparison. 👍🇳🇿

I love your yard, garden, and that sunroom/conservatory area!

Delta loop antennas are underated. I built one for 15m with a 4.1 balun and tune from 17-10 m perfectly with 7300 tuner. They are so quiet.

Hi Mat, I built a 20m delta loop in the same configuration and it is a wonderful antenna for 80-10m. they are a bit directional, but rotating mine would ruin the wife's satellite reception when I transmit, so it stays N/S direction.

0:45 Telescoping tubing.

Gosh, I wish I could get one of these for 160-2m - that would be a dream.

Across the the pond we call that swagged tube or sometimes swagging done on what is often using chain link fence rail and post as we have swagging dies In many sizes that u’all don’t see cause you use thing differently

It looks like commercially available antenna mast. It comes in 5 foot sections, and one end is reduced in size (swagged)to fit inside the previous section. However, you installed it upside down. The swagged end should be facing up to the sky. That way, when it rains water runs down the outside of the mast instead of running down the inside and eventually rotting out the joint between the sections. Hope this helps.
P.s. the bottom section should be a little ways above the ground so water doesn't accumulate in the mast .

I bought one on a whim a couple of years ago at a discount. I had a shoulder replacement surgery and not strong enough to install the delta at the full size. I left out the third telescoping piece and reduced the size to end up as a full wave on 15 meters. The balun that was supplied fell apart when I removed the mounting bolts. I used my own balun. The Antenna was mounted just above my roof line. It tuned up fine on 15, and did well on stateside contacts if I rotated the antenna broadside to the stations. I have a 40 meter horizontal loop that out-performed the EADelta on 15 meters every time with DX stations. When I am able, I would like to build the delta as designed... maybe I can get it a bit higher. Sometimes, you just hafta' do what you can, with what you got. I was glad to see your video and experience. 73 de K1QS.

Wow! The noise elimination looks amazing. Since I'm only interested in listening, mostly SW, utilities, and some amateurs, the noise reduction is very interesting to me.

Mate, that is an absolutely LOVELY view of the horizon you have. Great video, as always! Cheers from the Southern USA, de K5SFC.

I did a quick look and I didn't see this mentioned but you have the swags upside down on your mast pipe. You want to have the narrow part facing up and the wider part sliding down. This helps keep water out of the joint. I know where you're at you do not get severe winter weather but I'm sure it freezes there sometimes and that could be problematic if moisture is in that joint.

There's nothing you can do obviously about the antenna elements as all antennas are built going from largest diameter at the bottom to smallest at the top. I would put a layer of electrical tape over the joint and then put the hose clamp on the electrical tape. I've done this for years and it works out very nicely.
