Riders to the legendary Scud Race, we cover the full lineup of Model 3 arcade racers including SEGA Rally 2, Daytona USA 2 (both included in , Le Mans 24, Dirt Devils, Ski Champ, Emergency Call Ambulance and pine for the unavailable and ultra-rare Boat Race GP.

Daytona USA 2 is available as 'SEGA Racing Classic 2' with both Battle & Power Editions in the Yakuza games 'Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name' & 'Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii'. Emergency Call Ambulance is featured in 'Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties'.

SEGA Model 3 was the most powerful arcade hardware of the late 1990s and produced some of the greatest racing games ever made. These Model 3 racers still hold up today with incredible graphics, tough handling and pure arcade gameplay.

Cheats & Secrets (from SEGA Retro and arcade sources):

Scud Race / Super GT
Hidden vehicles (Super Beginner): Select Super Beginner course, then hold Start while choosing a car.

Le Mans 24
Sonic car: Highlight Nismo R33, turn wheel left + hold brake, hold Start + VR 1+3, then accelerate.
Porsche 917K: Same as above but hold VR 1+2 instead of VR 1+3.

SEGA Rally 2
Hidden cars (Celica GT-Four ST205 & Lancia Delta HF Integrale): At the car select screen press Select + Handbrake.

Daytona USA 2 (Battle on the Edge)
Hornet Special: Before starting put gear in 1st. At course select move to 4th gear. Then input View buttons: 1, 4, 2, 4, 1, 2, 2+3 together, 1.

Dirt Devils
Super Truck & Vivadome (hidden car + track) only unlocked through strong performance & unlock saves when done. Come first & do well! I couldn't do it in time for the video :P

What's YOUR Top SEGA Model 3 Racing games? Drop 'em here! Also, a correction: I call the rear brake the "handbrake" in the Harley-Davidson section. I occasionally mix stuff like this up when recording my scripts - duh! I also say "amboolance" and "thanksful" - it all sounded good at the time 🤣

A dream game for me would be for SEGA to release Scud Race/Daytona 2/Sega Rally 2/Le Mans and Dirt Devils all in one package. Please one day let it happen.

I spent so many hours playing Scud Race, but never managed to get good at it. It's so hard and sensitive. Sometimes you get that satisfying perfect drift corner, other times you spin around without knowing for sure what you did wrong and differently this time. Took me forever to even finish the third track... Never finished the last one at the castle.

This video inspired me to download SUPER3 on my Odin 3 and play these games, what absolute gems they are! Upscaled to 1080 they look stunning. Thanks for putting this list together

It’s hard to believe that I first played Daytona 2 over 20 years ago. My local Walmart had it in its arcade, and my grandma would always give me some loose change to go play it. Fell in love with the soundtrack right away.

I recently took a trip to Japan, and got to play it at an arcade in Akihabara. It had been 16 years since I played it on an actual cabinet.

Like A Dragon Gaiden only features Daytona 2 Power Edition, whereas Pirate Yakuza has both versions, selectable difficulties, AND up to 4 player local multiplayer on newer gen and PC versions.
Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties includes Emergency Call Ambulance with an extra "Super Easy" difficulty setting, because even the normal difficulty time limits are fairly strict.

my favorite model 3 racer is sega rally 2, no question (it's the only one i can actually manage to be somewhat good at, it helps :P ), but i agree with everything you said about scud race ; that one is the benchmark for arcade racers past 1996, and sega's magnum opus.
