If you had Mr Carson laughing that hard then you were as good as gold!

So glad Carson liked him.  These are priceless.

It's great to see a guest draw Ed in the conversation.

Its funny that Martin Short mentions Jerry Lewis' energy. When Martin still is as energetic today as he is in this clip.

Carson loved him. He's a legend.

Martin Short is an under rated comedic genius. Johnny loved his impressions and absurdist humor. Amazing talent.

Johnny genuinely liked Martin short. Marty cracked him up! I only wish that he had come on before the late 80s so we could have seen more interactions between the two legends.

Martin Short always cracks me up. Along with Jonathan Winters and Robin Williams I think are the three best ever at improv comedy and now Martin is the only one still with us.

Anyone else see the genesis of Jiminy Glick around the 8:00 mark?

Short was the best guest for Carson as well as Letterman. Always so funny.

I was listening to the Strike Force Five Podcast (the hosts of the late night shows: Colbert, Fallon, Meyers, Kimmel, and Oliver) and they were saying how Martin Short was one of their favorite guests, as he always delivers. He does.

If you haven't read his autobiography, "I Must Say: My Life As a Humble Comedy Legend," you're missing out. It's fantastic. I got the audiobook and it's amazing. He sings, which you can't get in a hardcover. He really performs: I laughed and cried. Literally. The last chapter of the book had me bawling. It's so sweet and loving and it took me a few days to get over it. Absolutely terrific.

My god imagine him and Robin Williams in the same room and firing on all cylinders. Chaos.

If I only remember one thing about Martin Short it'll be that he was fun.

It's amazing how many actors voice usually deepen or change as they age but you could listen to this side by side with a clip from Only Murders in the Building and even in the 70s he has the exact same voice

Martin Short preps for about a month if not longer for his talk show appearances. He sends all his jokes and ideas to the show ahead of time to find tune it to his best 5 or 7 minutes or however long he has. That is why he is so good.

Craig Stubing is Jiminy Glick.   MARVELOUS !
