Stunningly accurate summing up of my daily driver, it's impossible to be in a bad mood in this car. My personal record for top down weather conditions is minus 4, snug, warm and comfy. I'll only sell it when I can afford an ND but there's no hurry.

Absolutely YES to all that.

Good review! I have an 06 Nc sport. Was my Dads. Love it

Well, my 07 hardtop is just perfect for my home city of Perth, Western Australia. This is a real top-down climate, and my MX5 spends most of its time in that happy state. You mentioned the Boxster; last year I had a 2000 Boxster S. What a car; just amazing. But astronomically expensive to maintain here in Oz, and when anyone asked me what I drove, I’d open my mouth to say a Porsche, and I knew I was going to sound like a twat. So I sold it, bought the MX5, and I haven’t looked back. Now, if you’ll excuse me, the coastal drive from Fremantle to Hillary’s is calling

Summed it up pretty well. The thing I like the most is it's very satisfying to drive, and the fun is very accessible

Good review - thanks. When I suggested to my wife 4 years ago I wanted to buy a MX5 NC she scoffed. "It's just a toy for me" I said. 5 years on she absolutely loves it - it's now 'her' car!

Bought a 2007 2.0 a few months ago. Funnest car I’ve ever driven. Even when you’re just doing the speed limit, you feel like your flying. I love the reaction from people I know when they see it. It’s usually “I want one”.

But with the roof up, the Pioneer sound system(put in my 2009 Roadster when I bought it last month), sounds better. Still feel like a kid in a sweet shop every time I get in it :)

My first Miata was an NB. Great little car but I had issues with the cloth top getting cut and eventually sold it on. Fast forward 15 years and I just purchased an NC2 PRHT GT and I am absolutely in love! Comfortable enough to be a daily, sporty enough to spend a day giggling like a little kid with the top down on my favorite back road twistiest. It’s one of those cars that makes you find excuses to run errands in or take the long way home!

I have a 2023 MX-5, same seats, but here in the U.S. we don't get the Terracotta interior, it's black. By the way if yours is a 2022 it has 181 hp. and 151 breaking hp. I've had the '16, '17, '19 and on my 2nd 2023, the 1st one was totaled in an accident. As a young man, I had a new '64 MGB and a new '66 MGB. After owning those I could never replace the feeling of driving with anything other than another real Roadster like these MX-5's.

Yep totally agree. I had an e89 z4 and always felt a bit pretentious in it. Mx-5 feel totally relaxed in it. Had the BBR super200 and exhaust done on it and it’s now my ideal car. No point in having a really fast car with number of speed cameras etc. It’s great fun.

People that don’t like the mx5 have never driven the Mx5.

I want one!!

Looks nippy enough and sounds great!

A very fair & informative review Sir 🙂

It's hard to explain why they are so good to anyone who has never driven one. As on paper the performance figures are nothing to write home about.
However, the reality of owning/driving one equals huge smiles per mile 😃

If my explanation of why an MX-5 is brilliant on so many levels still falls on deaf ears?
I simply point out that in 2024 they have been in production for 35yrs. And they are the best selling 2 seat roadster worldwide in automotive history 😃

If that doesn't work. It's invariably because the guy has 3 kids & is therefore forced to drive a $hite people carrier of some description. They are usually the same guys that call all 2 seater convertibles "Hairdresser cars"
But I try to have pity on them.
Maybe I'd be equally as bitter & twisted if I was forced to own a Vauxhall Zafira 😉
